Amazing, what an animal he is.

  2. Like them both but really like the second one,..little less over the top and classier.

I wouldnt have had the balls to ask him to redo mine, he could paint my Caddy in horse dung and I would still say it looked awesome.

Amazing guy and great to read stories like this, it's nice when you read that the people that you admire and respect are decent down to earth people rather than egotistical jask asses.

So how do you like the second paint job? Hard to tell because the pic with you standing beside GW, he is smiling and you aren't. I'd have a shit eating grin to stand next to that guy, no less have him paint my car twice. IMO, both versions are great. That's a really nice looking wagon.

Honestly, I liked the first job. The yellow and plum colors did it for me, but he's a master and he must have seen something that didn't show in the first pics. Still a great job.

I love the second paint job! The main issue that I should have put in the original post was the fact that the base coat and sealer were not sticking together they were still tacky after 6 weeks and were causing cracking in the paint. That is why I called Gene to come look at the car. We had the HOK rep come out he said pull the paint off Gene agreed and re did it. I could see how it was confusing in my first post. I wouldn't call up a hero of mine who I was able to get to paint my car in the first place just because "I didn't like the paint" It needed to be re done. I was heart sick thinking I lost my Winfield but he stepped up and fixed it for me. Gene is the man!

So did HOK step up and pay for the redo?

Had a problem with a batch of primer and they paid to strip it back down and gave me more materials to redo.
    I love House of Kolors!

Wow looks great! Met Gene at Salina and shook his hand, was honestly about in shock over how nice he was that I froze up and felt like a little school girl walking away. Haha.

Glad to hear everyone else's experances were as good :)

Gene Winfield is the Jack LaLanne of Custom car painting! He has phenomenal skills and a phenomenal personality. Like others have said, I can honestly say he's one of the nicest individuals I've ever met. A rare breed. Don Garlits is another that comes to mind.

gene comes from an era where your name and a handshake meant everything.
he is a living legend in the custom world and yet not too much of a "rockstar"
to care about a customers satisfaction...damn!!

I love the second job the best. Looks like you have a lot of hours of wet sanding and bufing ahead of you now. HAVE FUN!!! I see raw finger tips in your future.

  30. that second job is killer! though i am a fan of white roofs, that still is a 100% paint job. i do like sparkles too:D hope this one works out.
