It's like the first official week of summer and I am freaking out too, I think I may have over extended myself on the quarters (no pun intended) but was that ever a lot of work. All I can think of is doing more to it!

  3. Damn just finally finished reading the thread, you guys are cool shit. Killer rides and nice work.

I want a shop like that in the near future.

Geez 3 weeks without a Clutch Poppers update is kind of cruel and unusual punishment. Maybe the food at the New West has finally taken it's toll? All joking aside, I bet the guys are busy as hell 'making hay while the sunshines' during their short summer....

If any of you guys are down in Calgary this week for the Stampede stop by my place this Thursday night in the Wolfe Street Col-de-sac. PM me if you don't know where that is!

Sorry for the short notice, Peter

  14. In about 5 minutes I am going to be enjoying another steam whistle and camel in that exact same spot....

  15. So you guys all remember Fat Dave ? The guy with the hair ?
Here he is with his beloved "Fatlane"

Well he's been a clutch popper a while now. As long as me anyway. A little ways back life threw him a couple curveballs. It was tough for him to indulge in his favourite automotive activities. He ended up having to park the Fatlane and forget it for a while. The car sat for close to a year. Tonight we gave it some love.

Dave started out by throwing some cocks on the bbq.

The Fairlane had 2 issues. Brakes were gone, and some sort of clutch/shifter problem had developed. Plus dead battery etc.
I worked on the brakes. I didn't take any pics because I was working.
Lee and Dave checked out the clutch situation.

They messed around with the linkage for a while, but it became obvious the clutch and bearing were worn out. Stay tuned for a lesson on how to replace a clutch on a '62 Fairlane coming soon!

It did run well enough however, for them to do a bunch a donuts in the parking lot across the street. I didn't take any pictures of that...

It was nice to see the Fatlane up and running again though.

I like the taillight treatment on Dave's chevy. What did he end up using?
    Like the fatlane too.

  19. I still cannot believe you had never done a donut in your life until last Wednesday.

  20. nice to see you guys again

  21. So, tonight was yet another fascinating Wednesday night.

I showed up late, and I missed dinner. I believe it involved some sort of pork chop.

Tonight was Lee's night, and as it turns out he went and acquired yet another half finished project.

Funny, I used to have a car just like that.

We started working on mounting the body. This involved some thinking, and cutting, and drilling, and welding.

And BAM!! just like that we had something going on.

Next we fit the mounts to the car.

    That's what we did.

  22. are they temporary? is there going to be an inner structure? or is this a drag car?

It's the original bumperettes with the overrides narrowed 3 1/2 inches with urethane lenses I made.

It's good to have you guys back. Great looking Fairlane.

  28. Been pretty quiet the last few weeks. We were working on putting the clutch back in Fat Dave's Fairlane, but still need a few parts. Last night all we did was eat chicken.

    Dog days of summer...
