I have been on a trip for the past few weeks to see my family.. I went around and looked for old cars. But I really have not found any I can't live without. Plus people want as much for rusty junk as a nice car in california. So I needed a little entertainment. Me and my little brother go this!!. I wish you could see the videos. . I will try to post some more pictures on my website to. Maybe when I am back Evel can show me how to get the videos on there!!! Here you go.. I even jumped the Drive. If I could do it again. I want to jump a car.. Maybe next time
I can tell you watched a little to much duke of hazzard when you were younger.LOL lol.. looks like a blast.. JOHN
Oh man you have to see the Videos. We jumped the car like 50 times. No Joke.. I have a new respect for buicks. It bent the strut towers in so far the pullies were rubbing on them.. I wish you could see the Videos.. One time we didn't get it slowed down in time and drove it off about a 10 foot straight down drop off.. My parents finally saw the car today and were like. Whats that old beat up car doing behind the barn
I used to do that with my dad's '66 Ford pickup on Lake Winnebago in the winter. He could never figure out why the alignment was so far off and the shift linkage was bent. Cool pix... JOE
Glad to see there are other idiots like me. Me and flatheadpete had about $30-40.00 invested in a chevette, and beat the living hell out of it a couple of winters ago. We used it as an ice-car, primarily running it on a resevoir that another buddy lives on. It is unbelievable how much abuse you can throw at some beaters, and they are up to the challenge. I ended up driving this one to the junk yard, because nobody wanted it sitting in their yard for the summer. -Joe
I'll bet there are a lot of us that did that when we were younger....and only now decided to tell somebody......hehehe.........hey wait!.....I have teenagers in my household now.........
Not bad, but you're gonna have to build up more speed if you want to match Clark Griswold's distance jumped in the Wagon Queen Family Truckster.
Cool to see somebody still doing that! Back in the early 70's I was riding with my Dad in a side swiped 63 Corvair. My uncle had wrecked it and Dad bought it back for cheap from the insurance guys. I'm pretty sure Mom had no idea what we were up to. Took it down some back roads (and a bunch of ditches) to some pastures with some pretty good ravines an proceeded to fly it. Talk about making an impression on me! Everything was cool till the oil light came on. Dad high tailed it for home and we maded it, just. The engine stopped right as we got to the shop. On one of the jumps the body hit the oil filter and broke it off. That was the last time that engine ever turned over. It got hauled off to the back and was the first car I ever tore apart. Some great memories!
Jake Did you get your mexican blankets yet? Savage let's do that with your coupe. makes for good TV. e.
So much for "unsafe at any speed" .... If you believe Nader, the car should have rolled 6 times and blown up after the first jump -
By brother & I did that with an old Toyota in the snow. We built a jump out of snow & ice. We were getting about 4' of air. Jumped it about 50 times. Then got stupid and landed it nose first. Bent the frame and that was the end of our fun... Looking back... I think this is a must for kids growing up today! Yeehaa
