Saw this at the Maplegrove Raceway super Chevy Show in a Chevy power T-Bucket. What do we call that? Three fours? Trip-Quads? It looked very cool! Wonder how it ran? Check it out- Super Chevy video @ 13minutes 8 seconds Super Chevy Video
That car has been around (in that configuration) for a long time. Did it do a wicked burnout or doughnut's?
That car was built by Randy Bianchi and Willie Donato in the later Seventies as a twin to Sunkist a similar bucket in Orange. Willie beat the car like it owed him money but its all show now
I was about to say, man that thing would be so fun to drive, to bad i bet its a trailer queen... Than blue pipes. Some one opens her up... NICE!. Can i give it a spin?
I saw it with an orange one at Goodguys Charlotte in 06. They weren't afraid to get stupid with em. I think there was a smokin "A" roadster witha BBC with them too.
Crazy setup, but the only question I would have is; how many of those carbs are actually getting fuel sent through them? I like the paint and pinstripes on that, pretty tastefully done.
So the wind won't blow the windshield back. Some guys think they need it, even on a short windshield, but I don't use one and my windshield is taller than the one pictured.
Windshield supports. All the early T-buckets had them, especially the ones with tall windshields. Check your old mags.
Yeah, I was concerned that you'd get screwed on that one. I remember you got a bit banged up as well?
Seems that car has been around the block one or two times. I never saw it before. I like anything with a lot of carbs sitting up top. Never saw 3 fours before. It looks really cool- I think I would like it with 3 Edelbrocks on top a little better. I know most of the cars @ Super Chevy are off topic for the HAMB but it was a nice show. Seems smaller then a few years back but more quality cars. I had a good time!
I think he used wax doods 95% of the time. Wikipedia claims that wax doods was some sort of knob polish onced used by many famouse rock starts when the groupies were too ugly.
A slight correction Beano, it is actually Aramaic street jive and the online translator has it thus: "95% of the time I would defeat other driver's whose cars had blowers because they were not set up properly and were all show and no go."
This wasn't a trailer queen when Willy owned it. It was restored some years back and a new owner has it now. Yeah, Willy drove it like he just stole it, don't know about the new owner.
T windshield stays (or straps) were supposed to be functional, at first some were. 'Glass cars, with their small footprint of windshield flange bolt pattern, had a steel plate backup underneath, ideally. Lots had a small carved piece of plywood... My bud Bob Waddell took me for a ride down Highway 1 in his shortened 'glass '23 tub, no w/s stays...at 90 MPH windshield fell in our laps, I wrestled it back up off Bob's hands and steering wheel, but we were sliding thru the iceplant in the center median. Thank God for 11 degrees of caster! (Bob said he just let go, he 'knew' the caster would save us...) I thought, "Why I oughta..." LOL We got to my Dad's house in Watsonville, and it took a few beers to settle back down... Santa Cruz, 1974.
