Clip for '40 Buick Roadmaster? Trans question?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rustynewyorker, Jul 29, 2012.

  1. So the front suspension in my '40 Buick is falling apart with rot issues. I haven't been up to get a good look at the frame, but it appears I'm going to have to do something with it. I hate to clip a car, but I have both a couple of S10s and an '88 Caprice handy and was wondering if either might work. Anyone have any opinions here?

I suspect the S10 may be too narrow for the big Buick and the Caprice may be too wide for it, I'm going to go up in a bit and measure and see how bad my buddy f'ed it up trying to move it.

Is the trans in this car anything desirable? Being a Roadmaster it's the bigger HD trans but I'm not up on which years guys used outside of the 37-38s. The straight eight is dead and a parts motor.
