Thank you Larry and everyone involved.... I know you said this is the only invitational... but I vote... repeat this every year instead of the normal show... felt like the first ever showdown... but I got to have a car there instead of just being a spectator....not the rain or the mud but just the atmosphere was different... everyone felt like an old friend... even the people we just met today...

Never been so wet and so muddy in a roadster before....with such a smile on my face... the ol' flathead pulled through without even a hick-up...

    Thanks
    Zach

  5. What a great day, the people, the hotrods, the track, the museum...it all just seems to fit. I'm with Zach, the vibe was like the first couple - easygoing. Nice assembly of cars too!
    Thanks Larry and crew!

Like Zach, I enjoyed this show even more for some reason. Sure don't want to steer the boat, but a number of people were saying how they didn't miss the bands and naturally replaced the music with good conversation and new friends. Found and ran into more HAMB members this time than at any other Showdown.

In spite of the turn in the weather, there was no panic or attitude that I saw. People just banded together and looked out for one another till the sun came out again.

No matter how she tried, Mother nature didn't screw up this event. She just made it even more the adventure!

Thanks again for the cool tag to mark this great event!

Thanks Larry and everyone involved, definitely made the best out of some rough circumstances, especially this guy , turned alot of frowns and worried faces to huge smiles and excitement. Thanks again!

Got there a little late enjoyed myself thoroughly. Great to see some old friends and make a few new ones. The Bandit and I had a a nice ride back to CT strategizing both the Art of Speed for this year and the Hot Rod Fall Out

  10. Larry, a great show, I heard no pissin or moanin under the pavilion about the rain and hail, people were great and I don't think anyone even cared about the soaking. It seemed more laid back and more traditional which is what I like, thanks again.

By the way, anyone know how much rain fell?

The feeling of comradery was evident at the Showdown.

I especially want to thank Greg (fleetside66) for introducing me to Jen (metalhotrodgirl) who introduced me to Junior, who arranged for Mike Sholley (sholleystrimshop) to generously weld up my broken motormount so I could make the 130 mile trip home without incident.

    Thanks guys!

Had a fantastic time as always, kinda dug the low-key vibe this weekend, no waiting for track time! Great to see everyone again, made it back to Barfalo intact and trouble free. Thanks Larry, Kim, and crew!!

Larry I would have to TOTALLY agree with Zach as well, there was a total different vibe that was really cool. Quality cars and great people plus one hell of a rain storm made for a totally kick ass good time! PLEASE REPEAT next year instead of the normal show!

  14. Hey Larry, let me start by saying thanks for inviting me and my old pickup. You and your friends put on a kool show!

My son and I had a great time, it was kool to meet so many new people and see some friends, old and new! Oh yah, did I mention that I seen some real kool cars as well.

The show was different, without many spectators, it was more just hot rodders talking with hot rodders.

And a special thank to the guys from Exclusive Styles for letting us get out of the rain with them!

Flatty.......you brought up something that hadn't dawned on me till you said it. Minimum spectators. I know they are needed to help cover the cost of putting on the event. But not having as many of them there did make a difference!

This event was truly unique and better. Cut off date on entries to make sure only the core of hot rodding was there. Great location and experienced manager and crew to put it on.

Sure wish more events would follow suite................

Thanks again to Larry and crew for making it the best event to attend!

Had an awesome time and met a bunch of great people. Thanks you again for a great show Larry. Cant wait for the next one.

  18. Made the trip from western PA and despite the monsoon my girlfriend and I still had a blast! I've been attending the Jalopy Showdown since year 4, but have followed it since year 2 through pics and videos. Like others have said, the show had more of a laid back feel. I told my gf while we were walking around that I didn't feel rushed or crowded. Was also nice to be able to snap some pics without a bunch of people walking in front of you. To me, this show was awesome but the May Showdown is still something special that should not go away. Maybe since the invite was such a success, do it every 5 yrs to keep it prestigious???

I understand the work involved and as I say after every Showdown.... Thanks Larry and crew... once again you put on 1 helluva show!

On a sidenote and kind of fitting... this is my 1000th post and I can't think of a better topic to be posting on. Ive always been into old cars, but The Jalopy Showdown is what really got me hooked on traditional Hot Rods and customs and is one of the reasons I started lurking on the HAMB years ago.
