Hello I wonder what´s the Bigest tire for a 35 Ford 16" Wire Spoke Wheel ?? Also will like to know If I use radials, do I need to use tubes? Thanks for any advise
You can run up to a 7:50x 16 even though they recommend a 5" - 6" rim for that size tire. Best stick to bias plies. I've seen guy split rims running radials.
'35 Ford wheels don't need any sealing on the inside. There are no spoke nipples. All Ford wheels were welded spoke, the only hole is for the valve stem. I'm running some 225-75 /16's on a set of widened '35 wires,no tubes and no leaks ,they have been on my, '26 lakes modified for more than a year with out problem. ................Jack
I'm installing 6.00 and 7.50 tires and tubes on my '35 wires this weekend. I was told by Coker that the 7.50 is the "biggest" tire that the '35 wires will accommodate.
Oh do you wided this 16" rims?, I have asked on shops that use to do this work, but they say no way, the spokes are welded on the cylindrical part. Do you can put a picture? Thanks, Luis
I have 7.50/16's on adjustable 40 spoke Kelsey Hayes wheels on the rear. These wheels have 4½" wide rims, ½" wider than the welded bent spoke Kelsey Hayes wheels, I think. I'm not sure about the wires made for Ford by Motor Wheel Corp.
That range amongst pros is gonna lean heavily towards the "it works great" side of things. Even the manufacturer says 750's are fine on 4" wide rims. Plus the literally hundreds of cars I have personally seen with them.
