I went in to the metal place today to get a sheet of 18gauge and a sheet of 20 gauge. The guy asked me what it was for and I told him patches for a car. He told me I was nuts and needed to use 28 gauge because it is easier to bend. I had never seen the guy until today. It got to the point where he was rude about it. Finally got another guy that I had delt with to help. Just wonder where these people come from.
don't know how your conversation went, but it should have included you telling him he does not know what the fuck he is talking about.
Short answer to your problem is, "please give me what I asked for." then after that nets no results, " is your boss anywhere to be found?"
I hate it when the person waiting on you asks what you are going to use whatever it is you are buying for. None of their business. I always want to come up with some cockamamee answer. "I need a sheet of steel to reinforce the door of my basement sex torture chamber. The last gal I had in there chewed a hole in it and got out. That was a close one!"
If I cared every time someone gave me a sideways look cause I didn't agree with their uninformed opinion my stomach would be riddled with ulcers.
Ha I was buying some 12 gauge once and the fella asked me what I was going to use it for and I said barrels for my shot gun. He just looked at me odd and wrote up the bill.
Well,---At least "Numnuts" told you the right answer!----28 ga.IS easier to bend! What he probably didn't understand was the higher the gauge goes---It gets THINNER---NOT Thicker!!!---Don
They come from AutoZone. Now what year, make, model, was that car again? Oh, and I'm going to need to know the color too.
I am about to start a build thread. Been buying stuff for it. Was wanting to keep it a 38 standard but all the parts are prety tuff to find.
It always goes down hill when the person behind the counter asks the question What are you using it for? not your business just get me what I asked for.
I try to be nice to those idiots behind the counter. They may even give me a discount because I'm old. But if I pi$$ them off, the price might go up.
I know! I went into the local O'Reilly's today to get some plugs and I asked the guy what the gap was and he didn't know! He had to look it up. What the hell is going on in this world?
I never tell what I am using it for. I just say "Ah its for some junk I am working on". I watched an Oriellys salesman refuse to sell a customer parts because he was not going to use it for it intended purpose. Salesman said there is to much liability and asked the guy to leave.
I love when these "idiots" ask questions, because then I build all this shit up inside and then come crap all over a message board. Ahhh I feel better already.....
