Just found one of these in a guys back yard. Trying to buy it, but he wants way too much. It's in pretty nice condition and complete, but he thinks he's got a gold mine. Too bad he doesn't think enough of it to put it in the garage...
My sentiments exactly...But you know the type..."I'd rather it rot than let someone else get a good deal on it."
I still have one of these in my shed, but it must be a little later since the wheels were cast aluminum spokes. Both my kids rode it, now they are both too big to care. I think it was a shriner car at some point. Seeing this makes me want to revive it.
Yeah...then one guy'll soup his up, then another guy'll plant a bigger engine...then fenders and windshields'll come off, and guys'll start drivin' 'em to work in race trim, an' the local constabulary'll crack down on everybody. Then the news media'll get involved, and that whole "Hot Rod" thing'll start up again... Hurry, before it loses momentum!!!
Just bought one of these kart Tin Lizzy's that was in a barn in Frostproof Fl. Have been taking photos as I take it apart ( great suggestion from someone) and have the schematic and parts list from Sharp Mini Cars ( can mail anyone a copy who needs it) Somewhat challenged mechanically- the little transmission on the rear axle scares the heck out of me. Any advice for disassembling, cleaning and putting it back together greatly appreciated ( they have most parts but don't stock the gasket anymore.Any advice greatly appreciated from anyone who has done this. Thanks
I am looking for parts for a little model T gocart like this. I am in need of the whole windshield assembly...the headlight assembly and a few other parts. If you have these or know of where I could find some parts please let me know. Thanks, Chris
Hi!!! I just bought a "Barn Find" T gocart too! Would you mind emailing me the schematics you have? I would greatly appreciate it! [email protected] Chris Thomas
Some parts are available through the current manufacturer at www.sharpminicar.com or you can give them a call at 800-310-2590, but I've found them hard to get a hold of.
I got a 5 er 6 horse Techumsa (sp) motor that I'd like to put into good use... A go kart would be very cool..
My cousin droped one of these off a my house last week to see if i could repair it !! All 4 tires flat and rotted but the body and motor seem complete and may just run? The cart must have spent some time stored on damp surface as one of the wheel rim had rusted away, although the wood spoke are still good.Does anyone have a single rim for one of these they would like to sale ???
I've recently rescued what i think is a mcdonough model t go kart. I'm trying to confirm this. If anyone can give me info on what and where to look for would be appreciated. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I'd love to get one of these for my kids but good lord, for the price of some of them I might as well just buy them a real T!
Wisconsin, Yours does look like one of the later McD's with the metal wheels. The ones I've seen have a plate attached to the rear cross member just below the engine. If it's there it should identify your car. Check a couple of posts up as I have listed the number I have for Sharp Minicars, the current owner. Like I said they do have a few parts, but they can be hard to get a hold of.
