Amazing find. I know the middle handle below rear window is to raise and lower the glass. What is the handle next to it on the passenger side? ( behind the seat area)

You have a good eye. I had not noticed that handle myself, so went out to the shop to check it out. It turns out that handle opens the rumble seat lid!

It will be awhile. Still have a 33 Ford 5 window to finish, and then a 53 Ford convertible - a customized car I owned in the 70's and bought back in 2008.
Once those two projects are complete, I will get to this barn find 3 window.

Thanks, but I just got lucky. It pays to keep networking with guys that know old cars, because sooner or later you will find out about something that is worth looking at. I never believed it would happen for me, especially after reading about all the other great finds on this site - I would always say to myself "man, are those guys ever lucky!". Keep diggin', you never know what is around the corner......

    Awesome find Steve!!

It would be cool to see a group photo of all three of your coupes together.

You got that right, Brian. I told Dennis and his wife that it was the find of a lifetime when I thanked them for the opportunity to buy their car. It all happened so fast that it still does not seem real!

Thanks, Dave. It is cool to have three coupes, but the reality is that now I will likely have to put the chopped three window up for sale - my shop simply is not big enough to house all these cars.:(

Hope you are making progress on your 34 coupe.

  17. Man, nice network you're in. Nobody around here would reveal the location of a score this big unless it was to a friend they could absolutely trust.

Nice find...hard to believe a car like that can sit for that long without being discovered.

Yea...all of the guys I network with would have already put dibs on it, if they new about it first...

I'm hoping that primer will come off with paint thinner, and that there will be most of that blue paint underneath. Would be nice to get some of the original patina look of this car.

I have discovered that all of the original rumble seat mechanism is intact and working well. My first thought was to take that all out and turn the car into a trunk model. Now I think I will leave the rumble seat mechanism in place,
just take out the seat part. That way I can still use the trunk area, but the lid will open from the top instead of the bottom. Don't need a trunk handle, because the opening handle is inside near the bottom of the rear window.

On another note, I am trying to trace the history of this car, and am checking out what I think is a good lead....will report later on the results....
