it looks great! i'd love to inspect it out there; give me a call on my cell when you're in line (310) 463-5965 and i'll check ya out. i like helping fellow hambers- i got to tech the flatcad last year.

In the mean time, these are my suggestions:

1 - i wouldn't suggest nylocks on the air cleaners. use a castle nut with a cotter pin or drill two wing-nuts and run some safety wire between them so they can't spin off.

2- find a way to lock and secure the bolts going into the wishbone ends. you have the right bolts and washers, but you will need something to secure the bolts in place.

3- you will NEED to run straps around the rear wishbones so that if one comes loose it can't hit the ground. they are suggested for the front as well.

4- get some fireproof adhestive foam to go between the firewall and the tank to seal the driver completely. it comes in a roll from summit, pegasus, etc. that and fireprood tape are good things to have in your toolbox out there anyway.

5- the rule book states that you are required to run a keyed gusset abover the shoulders to the hoop. i've seen kiwi-steve pass people without them, but you'll want to email him pics and check before you get all the way out there.

you can shoot me an email if you have any questions: [email protected]

Thank You for the above listed requirements, some of which I have already correted since the pic's, however; what are you referring to in Point # 5 "keyed gussets aobve the shoulder hoop" ? I cannot locate this in the rule book to determine what I have to correct...

    Thx, Neil....

I made straps for my rear DragBones on my Model A Pickup a few years back...I had just passed NHRA Tech @ Bowling Green HRR even after pointing to this area telling the tech I should have something...He told me what I had was stronger than the standard rod end used on most drag cars.....I did not agree so I made these later, for I thought it was worth the time to make them to avoid being possibly launched.....When I raced Yamaha Light Go-Karts..I safety tied everything and used as many castle nuts as possible !.......Littleman

    Neil, it looks great !

Hey thanks for the comments, however; we have no idea what we are doing !

Yes it is a P-38 tank, but it is glass, with 20" added to the tank to allow room for Jimmy to sit and sing !

I'll stick the Road Rockets plaque back on the '53 and look you guys up. An inliner friend from here is putting another 16 year old grand daughter at the wheel of his supercharged 302 powered '54 Chevy pickup. You could supplement your trip by bringing some Canadian beer. Don't let Bob bring the stuff he crosses into Oklahoma to get.

Well the tank is together, just a little more work on the carb jetting, then more work on the carb jetting once we are in the salt....
