Guess I'll have to eat more beans... FFFFFT!.. :D

  2. No, this was the deal of the century - for the unions! The stockholders and creditors were screwed out of every penny, because of what amounted to nationalization of both companies. Had Chrysler and GM simply been allowed to file for bankruptcy protection, both companies would've become viable companies WITHOUT government interference. The taxpayer is still on the hook for billions - don't even think that both companies have "paid back" the money, not by a long shot.

    This is factually incorrect.
Any possible chance that we can omit the political rants in here?

re; "political rants".....My only comment there is that if we don't keep a sharp eye on the critters, politicians will find a way to ban everything we hold near and dear.........

There you go again patrick, substituting opinion for facts; deal of the century for unions (ie employees), they took a big pay cut and many kept their jobs and many more have been rehired as these companies have become viable again. Also, what do you think happens to stockholders and creditors when a company files for bankrupcy protection?

  7. No rant, just the truth. All you have to do is research.

This will probably signal the end of this thread, and that's fine.

In the same respect, methanol blends are regional fuels. Since methanol doesn't "travel well", producing blends are restricted to the base source of the methanol..... in the US primarily the mid west and it's corn. I'm sure not everyone wants corn fields in their neighborhoods and paying for more refineries.....;)

Where did I mention the word OIL? Hmmm? PLEASE quote me on here and show me where I mentioned the word OIL?

You asked a question to yourself, and then answered it for me, only to go on a political rant. I was stating a fact about the Prius. You just couldn't leave your Berkeley bull shit off the board.

Much (but not all) the money has been paid back, and recent numbers are a sign that the full payback is coming on strong.
Had Chrysler and GM sought traditional bankruptcy protection the result would have been liquidation, not regeneration, because there was no private equity willing to invest in them. This is not political opinion, this is objective fact.
