Always loved the '55s, even more-so than the ever-popular '57s. Yours is probably my favorite of all I've seen, even though I'm not a "red car" kind of guy. Love it, dude.
Thanks! The colors are original. I have no imagination, and 55s look good with the factory paint schemes...
that's a good-lookin' '55, alright. we used to call a car like that a shitter when i was young enough to street race. short for pants-shitter.
Jim, are your lower A Frames the stock units or are they Vette? I can't tell by the photo if the sway bar brackets are added.
Stock car A arms. It's an aftermarket addco sway bar. I only have it on there to make the car handle ok, since I kind of screwed up the rear suspension....
I like the previous incarnation, but I wouldn't kick it outa my garage now either. Awesome 55 no matter what look its sporting.
I only said Vette because they were obviously not stock, and someone before me (Johnny Gee) had asked if they were Vette. My comment was more or less that they didn't appear to be stock, not that they were definitively Vette.
63 - 67 if I remember correctly. But it's not just that simple. You have to use the Tri Five A Frame shaft and use Vette spindles because the lower balljoint stem is a larger dia. But you may be able to use lets say? 63 64 Impala balljoint, but I never crossed that bridge to see if Impala ball would allow you to use Tri Five spindle.
I like it.That's how all the 55's looked that my school buddies owned in the early 1960's. Minus the big tires, carbs sticking through the hood and a bit more rusty and a 3 speed 265 or 283.
what he's not telling you is ,it went 11:28 on drag radials through the mufflers with a street gear,,i see high 10s in it.
you did good squirrel!! i used to race a 55 back in the early 80s. ran a 10.92 best time for that old girl.built to the hilt 327 tunnelram 4 speed god i loved that car.run a 456 at the track and a 411 on the street. wife drove a 55 for a daily i had 3 more to drive as dailys.but then you could buy one for 1500. and drive it home.i just bought one for 2000. that needs everything. and lots of work.no motor, trans, interior, or side glass. oh well at least its a 55.son is going to build it.im gettin pretty excited! cant wait to look out the windshield of one again.ill be 20 yrs old one more time!! lol
