Here's a few pictures from yesterday's SCTA meet at El Mirage. 137 entries, good weather and slight breeze on the dry lake. Tech inspection for cars & bikes.
More......the Mariani streamliner is one of the slickest I've seen! Two cameras on top of the tail, one showing front view and one for the rear.
I believe the Mariani car is the old Dave Dozier streamliner. Run with Chrysler straight eight power (250 MPH) and late Hemi crate motor (300 +)
Hagerty owned the Airflow with Daves Straight 8 in it. Don't know if he was involved in the 'liner. He had stepped up with $$$ for the eight. In 1964 Dave told me about the '32 Plymouth powered X/Dragster he ran in the 50s. Said that a Y block head could be installed on the PB. But it didn't work any better than the flathead. Years later I had to try it myself.
What a great weekend, Our lil motorcycle picked up 13mph from June. Now we "ONLY" need to find another 35mph to get close to the record. If you werent there Sat night we had a lightning show like I've never seen before that went on for hours.
Thanks for the great pix - it was another perfect weekend - except I missed my own record by less than 1/2 mph . . . Willi #426
The #151 modified roadster belongs to Bill Davis. It has the same 4-port Riley head that won the CRA title back in the 50's, owned by Bill Sr. at that time and run by Davis and Cunnimgham, of Cunningham rod fame.
Great pics! On my bucket list before I kick to get to the "lakes" for at least one meet. Thanks for posting, makes me want to be there more than ever. Maybe next year.
