Last night while posting that last one I fell asleep sitting up in the chair in front of the computer.

I may have burned the candle at both ends too long.

I have to take it out for a drive after work tonight.

  2. Dave , the car looks good, it was fun to help out a little bit, you make it look easy!

You're going to be a zombie before this is all over. :D I think the old Sears boat fuel tank is pretty old timey, adds some character to the car.

You are getting close, it's almost over.

  5. Nice Dave, now I feel like a slug for the lack of progress on my roadster. Maybe I can talk my bro into helping me !

Well last nights drive was a success so far.

    drives, shifts,steers, stops.

would have gone better if I remembered to turn ON the gas shut off valve :)
no big deal, turned it on and kept going. I have done this numerous times on
my 52 harley so I know about where I run out of gas. lol

No head lights yet so had to stop around dark.

going to build the rest of the exhaust today and mount the headlights and wire them.

might even have time to hook up a e-brake.

Very happy to have it running and driving.

So I cut down the fan, and that allowed me to put some more miles on the car.

Here is how I made sure all the blades where the same length.

I bolted the fan to another generator clamped in the vise, then clamped the grinder so
it would touch the end of the shortest blade.

turn on the grinder and rotate the fan through. Just make sure to rotate against the rotation of the grinder, otherwise it will pull it through.

Once again making do with what you have.

Then I had bent up some headlight mounts from a head light bar.

I like to leave the whole bar together to give you leverage to bend it.
Obviously it takes some heat from a torch.

Honestly once I could drive it around I spent most of the day driving around.

I wanted to make sure it would run cool and have good oil pressure.

It runs a little cold, around 150 deg even with it being 80 something degrees.

Headlights are mounted and working, I'll post some pics in the morning.

Still need to finish the exhaust, then drive drive drive.:)

This is what hot rodding is all about, a little scavenging, some parts, put everything In the right place and drive drive drive.

I love the way everything fits together, time and stylewise. And Patina (is this a english word to)

Hot rodding is a State-of-mind, and You Sir, is in your right mind!!
Love the way you keep things simpel, don't overdoo it.
Like the seat and the fuel tank, it holds you ass in the right hight and the holds fuel. Simpel and perfect.

I wish i could afford a Model A, but this side the Atlantic, they cost a-arm-and-a-leg.

Well exhaust is done, took almost all day. I can see why guys use a lift to do that job.

but at least I can say I did every bit on this car, plus no one would have been open today
    to do the job anyway.

Here is a pic of it with the exhaust just sticking out under the frame.

and one with the headlights mounted

So after I got the exhaust done, I took it for about a 50 mile drive.

I stopped at the new property we are in escrow on, and snapped a picture in front of
    what could my new shop.

now I need to sleep, as we have a long day tomorrow with the run.

thanks to everyone who helped and thank all of you that offered comments of support.

honestly it is still sinking in that it is on the road.

hope I make the whole run :)

just got home from the run.

    Car made it fine.

It broke off the radiator support rod mount on the radiator.
rough roads and fast driving I guess.

but we made it back fine.

no I am off to bed for some needed sleep

    more info later.

Nice work, Dave! I just found this thread...damn, I'm behind the times. I didn't realize you'd sold your tan roadster, but like you said, it was for a good cause. The new roadster oughta help ease the anguish of selling your old ride.

I'll have to come by and check out the new wheels, but it sounds like you need to rest up a bit. That was one hell of a thrash...congrats!
