Can anyone out help me solve the leak problem where the "O" ring sits on the timing cover and under the water crossover. I have tried to fix it 3 times, each with a new "O" ring, but the leak persists. I have tried lots of gasket goo , but no success. I made sure it was very clean before instaling . Thanks for the help
Maybe too much gasket goo... All an O ring needs a smear of grease or vasoline so that it will slide into place without getting damaged. Is the housing that the O ring goes into in good shape?
Glue the gaskets to the crossover, put a small amount of grease on the block surface so you can slide it into place without moving anything. Make sure the hole is clean and dry, do the two oring thing and a bead of silicone on top of the water pump housing, tighten it up. Now don't do anything else till tomorrow. You should be good to go!!
I had hat same problem with my 401. The fix is to use the correct gaskets where the crossover bolts to the cylinder heads. Do not use felpro, they are not the correct thickness. You can get the correct ones from Centerville Auto, Russ Martin. Cheers
