Kripfink - no offense taken at all! That wasn't my car you saw - there's two similar that I know of, a turquoise single-tone Belvedere four door sedan, and a blue/white four door four door pillarless hardtop Fury. The Fury's been bought and sold a few times over the last few years. My car's bone stock, unless the rust counts as custom .

im sorry but IMO cars that are not shaved nosed and decked are not mild customs the vary first car in this thred is a perfect example of a mild custom i can accept a car with a watson style paint job that still has the door handles handles on it i see to many cars that are just lowered and the rest of the car is stock thats not a mild custom shave the damb door handles or something

love it, almost looks like its bent over in front with the way the trim is running to the front, mainly on the other pics thats posted.

still has its hood and trunk emblems
still has its door handles (a beautiful design for a door handle I must say)


it does however have the side trim shaved, mirrors gone, antenna shaved, side emblems shaved, custom interior, and its been lowered.

 

I'm inclined to say that you're not disagreeing with Alex at all. I interpret his definition as some other mod other than lowering, like your car, it has been cleaned up a little, so its not just a lowered stocker, a 'mild custom'. Nice car.

 

I have to agree with ynottayblock. One needs to take into consideration that the definition of mild custom is going to vary from person to person. There is no industry standard... no governing body defining and monitoring the industry. No rules set in stone. Which is what make hot rodding so flipping awesome. The car doesn't look stock to me, but it may to gambino customs, who can take a care to a whole different level. BUt to me... it is also a fact that if I did the work and didn't pay some shop to me... that is even more important. I customized it. But it is also a case by case basis. Either way... it still a nice looking car and I would call it mild and definitely custom. Most of the stuff done by gambino and the other big dogs, goes beyond mild, and yet still nice looking. All in all it doesn't matter until some one take a vehicle too far (another point where a case by case basis come into play). Just an opinion of one guy though. Keep all the good working coming guys. It's our world!

 

Mine has been called a mild custom... I think of it as a hot rod.

 

My mild custom is a '57 pontiac. Lowered 2 1/2", shaved door handles, louvered hood, continental kit, skirts, rolled and pleated interior. Stock drive train, and fun to drive!

Well, actually there is a very clear and definitive industry standard, and the governing body is the International Show Car Association. A mild custom is defined as "4-7 modifications". This is the sanctioning body for all the big shows throughout the world, including the Grand National Roadster Show, and even your own "local" show... The Detroit Autorama.
And whether you "show" it or not, the actual definition remains the same today as it has in the past.
