The new is today, to blend with the past. I have been conservative with today's rides. Now 'shit' is not on this thread. Yesterday and Today.

I guess I should have said "stuff" instead. Because I didn't mean it in a derogatory way. I love that shit.
Just that this tread is allready ot without all the 100 spoke chinas.

most lowriders built today don't interest me at all.

back then you built a car to look cool and drive.
today cars are built with the sole purpose of winning plastic trophies and are trailered to car shows.
and don't get me started on lowered cars. I have not seen a lowered car at a lowrider show in years.

There are old style cars out there. Not many, but if you see one photo it. Like all facets of auto/hobby the bar went sky high. That is why we are here at HAMBtown, TRYING to keep the flame alive. The trophy bit are at many, many style of show's as well. I hope for a lurker whom has some fresh back when photo album to share.

new or old style ive owned em both, and driven em both a LOT

we arent all trailer queens, some clubs put em in the streets too! there were trailer queens back in the day and there always will be .. but 100 spokes or cragars, if it rolls the streets its still a lowrider to me .. i can change the whole look of my car just by puttin cragars or trus on instead of the 100s .. thats whats fun about it.. same as hot rods .. wheels make the era, but still nice cars regardless..

Here's the one that made me fall in love with lowriders. Anybody got scans of the original Hot Rod Magazine article this was in??? I have been looking all over for it as i just snagged a 66 Impala convertible and am doing a white copy of this style..

Many of the multi-multi colored rides are handy as well. Seeing shiny COLOR on a car, and thinking 'that shade of purple all by itself would rule on a coupe/panhead/Watson styled ride. Shiny. I am thankful the board has allowed this topic to be entertained. Thanks goes to the OP and all the builders, photog's and fans of these rides.[IMG] This is thee one that got me way back then,,,,,

I sorta agree. For your car wheels are sure gonna change it, but some aborions of today, all chrome, murals everywhere, neons, jackstands etc..lookin like a circus prop, they can roll all the 5 spokes on 520 they want, it will never look old school, or good, but that is personal taste...to an extent.
I used to not like the 100 spokes but came to appreciate them.

And as HHoppy said, the cars with juice and full stack of coils are ridiculous to me too, cant undestand their attitude either, as in if it doesnt hop it aint a lowrider. That is what is ruinin it for me. And the brand snobs.
Althou i dont have to live it in person, but some european are gettin snob too just cause these guys do.
End rant, now lets get back to postin cool pics.

Yup, when I was doing this a long time ago, when we'd "cut" a car it had to lay. That was priority over hopping. If it didn't lay it was a big fail. If it hopped that was a bonus.....but it had to lay. In the 70's the surfers had the jacked up cars...Nomads GTO's etc. Todays Lows sit higher than those jacked up surfer cars. I wonder if you asked one of these guys why they call it a Lowrider, what would their answer be?

[IMG] Clean and simple. All facet's of the custom auto world have been hit by the 'over the top' syndrome. Find the rides that are not, post them here.

Who sells venetian blinds? I'm sure they are more available for the bombs than for a late 50's; but does anyone make them for my '58 Chevy.
