Yeah, a 65 6cyl Mustang radiator will run you about $100 and all you have to do is flip the mounting tabs/brackets, BUT it will only be sufficient if you're running a 144/170. It will not be enough if you have the 240 or a v8, plus the inlet/outlets will be in the wrong place.

I ran a Mustang one on my 170 for about a year and it worked great even in 98* weather. IIRC I got it from radiatorsusa.com. Shipped to my door for about $120, I think, about 5 years ago.

It's an aluminum one. I don't know the brand. I ordered it through a hot rod shop and they moved the inlet/outlet to work with the SBF, and they may have shortened it, too.

Can anyone give me some tips for removing the kingpins? I've already got the caps that hold the zerk fittings off, do the kingpins need to come up through the top or down through the bottom?

Need to remove the pin that locks the kingpin in place. I punched mine from the back and shoved it forward. I believe they will go either way.
Push/press kingpin up from the bottom.
Actually pretty easy compared to newer heavier duty stuff.
I assume you know the new bushings will need to be pressed into the knuckle and reamed to fit.
I pressed my own and took them to a frame shop to have them reamed.
Suggestion...if you haven't ordered your kingpin set yet.....when you do, order an extra pair of bushings. I messed up one and the frame shops reamer slipped and messed up the other. Luckily I had ordered 4 by mistake.

I bought my kit at Rock Auto and they also sell the bushings - sold in pairs.

I made the mistake of pressing a bushing in with a socket that had too much bevel. It bloomed the end of the bushing.

You can see the notch in the middle of the kingping where the locking pin is.

I pushed the lower bushing out from the top using an extension and properly sized socket, and a larger "catch" socket underneath. It was quick and easy.
The arrow opening on the bushing goes down, and make sure before you press it, that it aligns with the grease fitting.

OK, I'll have another look at it and report back with my findings. I didnt notice the pin but when I was messing with it last night it was nearly dark out. It wont be going back together or in my car any time soon, I was just tearing it apart to clean it up and paint it.

If you need a better pic showing the locking pin....lemme know. It's pretty easy to see now that it's all purdy.

Yes please, that would be really helpful. My axle looks like it sat in the dirt for thirty years and was covered in old, hardend grease that I've only partially removed so far.

So......I examined the axle a little closer and the one I have is a little different from yours. Mine doesnt have zerk fittings on the side, they are on the top and bottom of the kingpins with the fittings being in caps that cover both ends. Is this an Econoline axle or is this from a bigger truck? Maybe it's an earlier or later version? Here's some pictures:

Looking at the Rock Auto catalogue, they started using your style in 1964.
I would guess disassembly would be the same. I'd drive the locking in forward and shove the kingpin up.

This is my old pickup.I kept working on it and refining it 1970 to 1993. Built it for me to fit me. But I am done with it. I'm not going to register it or drive it anymore. I have tried to sell it here on the HAMB, but I have to admit it had a sentimental price tag on it. I'm thinking about turning it into yard art.
Just purchased a house that has a basketball slab and backboard on it . I think I will take the hoop and bacboard off and mount a three light traffic light I have been saving on it. I'll make some stands to get the front end way up, Will have wheelstander yard art. Unless another econoline lover wants it.

Holy Smokes! That took some serious work. Don't know what to think yet about your custom look. Love the frenched lights but now there is so much room on the nose between them. Are you thinking of keeping it smooth or adding another custom treatment to the front?
