RECOVERED!!! Way Off Topic Race Car Stolen From Garage In Charlotte NC

Please be on the lookout for my stolen MG Midget
race car. Car is a full race EMRA/SCCA car with a full cage and a 1275
engine. A distinguishing feature is an add on bar to the rear hoop for a
previous taller driver. Car is yellow (or was!). Also taken was my
single axle trailer. Trailer was green/aqua with a tire rack and
storage box on the front. The doors were taken off the storage shed and
both trailer and car were stolen. Thanks in advance.

It has been a long day but...the trailer is sitting in my driveway, I pick up the race car Monday and two people are in jail! THANK YOU to all on this list and the others I posted to. The police officer's said without such quick leads the car would have been gone by Tuesday at those latest. I am out a spare tire, possibly some parts but all in all I am ecstatic at the outcome. BTW, the brain surgeons sold the car to a recycler for $160.00!!! Special thanks to all the people that helped get the word out. I owe you one!"

They sold the car for scrap??? Those assholes!...

 

Think the guy who bought it may have known something was was not right? I am hoping to find out whether he too was trying to pull a fast one, or was instrumental in getting the thieves busted...

 

Glad to hear you got the little car back, I personally think that the thieves deserve the Homer award. That is a damned lot of work for 160.00.

 

I would like to thank Ryan and the moderators for allowing me to post this. I know this car is off topic, but in the end, a racer is a racer, and we all know someone who has been ripped off. Unfortunately these events don't always turn out this well.

My thanks to others that posted this in other Forums in order to get the word out. My renewal for the H.A.M.B comes up in 17 days (as the banner on the top of the page keeps reminding me ), and once again, I will renew. Quite a bit in return for the cost of a membership...

It's not often you hear great news in this situation. Good deal!!!

 

Nothing OT about thieves, they will take any car including our hot rods. Nice they are in jail for now...

It is great to hear that a car was actually recovered, and intact. Excellent news! And the fact that this site allowed the news to be spread to individuals throughout the hobby/industry, well, that too is excellent.

 

Great to hear! I hope the recycler is busted, too, if they can link him to an ongoing "stolen stuff turned into scrap metal" scam / mob. Gary

 

I'd really like to know if the recycler is the one who called the cops. No way they didn't know what was going on here. Keep us informed.
