Projects 1951 chevy hard top Freshening up/Rebuild

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 56 ford custom, Jul 6, 2012.

  1. Well I purchased this car from a buddy of mine that bought it from a man out of state. My buddy needed it out so I was first over there with my truck and trailer, had it loaded up and was on my way. It runs and drives but its still a project. Many things I don't like about it so I will be going through just about everything on this car.

So here are a few pic of it:

  3. The carb isnt the greatest and the kickdown/linkage is crap. What can I do? Who sells a kit for it?

not sure which I like best, the dash or the rear end treatment.

  10. Very true!!

So what can be done about the kickdown (slider rod) and linkage? It doesnt look good nor do I think it works right. Another thing is I have a new mustang tank that I want to mount in the trunk. I am told to make a frame for it so ot strengthens the floor. I know somebody here has done this. Please post some pics.

They sell a couple different styles of brackets at the parts store. Run around $25. I had to try a couple different ones before I found one that I could modify to work!

  17. I finally received the fuel neck and cap from Tanks Inc. I am very pleased.

  25. Yes exactly.

The questions I have are do these tanks need to be sealed inside and out? If so how? And with what?
