You need to talk to these guys when it is time to build your heads. I spent a loooooong time trying to find the best, most knowledgeable builder to have a set of heads built for my 401. I could not find anyone better. http://www.gesslerheadporting.com/g...9be03ed92964066b85256dd80027777d!OpenDocument Doc.
gessler is a great place, they do incredible work..but id never spend that money to re do a set of heads that arent able to flow well..thats why the supercharger...turn the boost up, unless youre going all out racing..spend the grand on the blower or pistons..or a real blower cam..doesnt make sense to me..
I agree, I wouldn't go all out on the heads for a blower motor, but a little clean up would be good and wouldn't necessarily take Gessler's expertise. And remember NO HARDENED SEATS.
yah, i hope there will be some report on availability/price, and i might sell that 6x2 to offset the cost of that intake. This will be a year or so project so im in no hurry yet, but my mag 8-71 should be here soon to atleast mock up
or spend some of the grand on Tom Telescos roller rockers, they make a diff, they really work..better money spent than head porting by Gesslers
they have been around long enough there feedback out there..hes on the Buick V8 board..you should slide over there and read thru the nailhead section lots of good info..join its free...
Zman I read and read a lil above my pay grade or over my head cause I'm a newbie nailheader is it worth 650$ for roller rockers from this guy? If you say yes I'll write it down on my list of things to get.
Sometime in the next couple days I'm gonna go over what I wrote down and you guys can tell me what I missed and I might start some new questions . Thank you to everyone that is helping me with this build. Hopefully I will have a very nasty lil 30 coupe
Really depends on your budget and what you want out of the the engine. They definitely work. I'd say work on getting all the blower stuff together first. See where you stand with the short block. Then see what you have left for the heads. The blower will overcome some of the deficiencies of the heads as was stated earlier.
Just want to get all the parts to buy list right and I'll start getting them one by one . I'll start with the blower & manifold .
I keep going back to these pictures, for a period looking street piece the first picture is about as good as it gets and the second for strip duty you couldn't ask for a better looking setup
Heres my 6-71 just a mock up in this pic. It will have a Hilborn 4-port when I get around to building it
That will be a killer Model A. I don't know if your gonna run the 4-71 because it's old looking or what. But 8-71's are everywhere and you can spin it slower which I believe will help with intake charge temp. Plus you can turn up the wick on it if you feel you need more boost later. The 4-71 would be done pretty quick. If you have to have a manifold made anyway I'd say 8-71. Oh, and put a good sparker in it. JMO.. Lippy
