Really nice. How about a description of how he did it? I'm assuming the cinnamon first and then the cream top and then the yellow-gold around the top and fender edges? How does he lay down such a straight line of white down the center? Is he literally just reaching out over the hood? Is there any masking panels away from the paint edge or is it all freehand? The fades along the top are so even all the way around. There's a reason he's THE MAN.

This Looks So Awesome man! Congrats! I really dig it, you are one lucky man to have it painted by such a legend as himself. I also an a sucker for old wagons, so that might be another reason why i love it! haha

Something I have always wondered. What do you do on a one off paint job like this if (God forbid) you ever get any damage on it ? Do you paint just a panel, or does the whole car need redone ?

I know it isn't a pleasant question, but just curious.

OK, So hear's the deal. I was having a hard time with the paint job that Gene did a couple of months ago. The base and sealer weren't sticking together causing the base to crack under the clear coat. I called up Gene to look and it and he said no problem let's re-paint it. He was a TOTAL GENTLEMAN!! He said prep the car I'll be back next month to re-shoot it. This time we put a lot of effort in the colors etc. The car came out great and my respect doubled for Gene. What a class act he said "I paint until I'm happy and we have to redo it" What a class act!! Here are the new pics...

What a class act he is. Even from the pictures, it looks much more unified in the colour transitions in version 2. Awesome looking car.

The color is awesome. I ran into to Gene at the first hotrod reunion in bowling green,he talked like we had known each other for years. You now have a piece of history. Cant wait to see it finished.

Beautiful. Don't ever get rid of that car. It's like owning a Picasso.

  28. I don't want to sound like an oddball, but I think I liked it better the first time. I liked the gold tones. But I guess you really have to see it in person to judge the look properly.

I love the second paint job! The main issue that I should have put in the original post was the fact that the base coat and sealer were not sticking together they were still tacky after 6 weeks and were causing cracking in the paint. That is why I called Gene to come look at the car. We had the HOK rep come out he said pull the paint off Gene agreed and re did it. I could see how it was confusing in my first post. I wouldn't call up a hero of mine who I was able to get to paint my car in the first place just because "I didn't like the paint" It needed to be re done. I was heart sick thinking I lost my Winfield but he stepped up and fixed it for me. Gene is the man!
