Damn I seen a pic of that this morning. That guy that got pinched in between the two rails probably had to change his shorts huh? Glad everyone is ok.

That was a guy I know called Darren.
He is fine but suffered 3 broken toes, badly cut arm and bruised err 'gentlemans area'
He said it was like a grenade going off in his groin!

One of the videos showed other runs previous and it seemed the car wasn't going straight on the burnouts. Unequal tire pressures? New pilot?

Saw that a few days ago.. scary.. Sucks it was that car.. any one know the cause?

 

Good reason for guard rails...

 

That thing must be built like a tank... Looks like it caused the wall more damage than itself.

 

Having the blower in the frame like that made it a little better for crashing if you can say that. Didnt look like too much will have to be done to it to fix the car.

 

Yeah that car was all but destroyed when it crashed in Japan. Glad everyone walked away. Love that dragster.

I guess the only thing that makes it a little easier to handle is it is NOT the original car, but a replica or clone if you will. In fact it is the second one as Shige wrecked the first clone in Japan in 2003 (IIRC). Still sucks, but at least the original is safely tucked away in the Garlits museum in Fl.

 

That shutdown area looks a little sketchy...

 

Looks like it could be straightened out. Good thing they added the extra bars in the rear kidney area on those cars back in the day, that would have ended the drivers day for sure!

Sorry the guy got hurt, but that's a terrible place to stand. Glad he's gonna be ok. I almost freaked out about the car getting crashed, til Don eased my mind on it being a clone. Damn.
