Interesting that in the early Lawson (sp?) design, the cyclops light was fixed. But when the moving front fenders got ditched, the cyclops light became the one that pointed the way in turns.

Preston had SO many keen ideas but not enough money -- or time -- to make it all happen. Though the Tucker failure is a damn shame, I will awlays believe Preston could have made it the car to beat in the market, had he just had one big-money backer.

...and here's the moment in time that Alex Tremulis was able to convince Preston Tucker that the moveable fenders had to go (January/February 1947).

    Description

Fred W. Belcher powers his 60 HP Knox stock car, No. 15, over the crest of Thurlow Hill in South Poland on June 17, 1911. The Thurlow Hill Climb was sponsored by the Maine Automobile Association. Belcher drove an exhibition run over the two-thirds-mile course in 48.2 seconds. At one point his car sailed through the air an estimated 32 feet as later paced off by witnesses
