I had a 58 convert in 1978.. Fairly rare as they only made 1,500 Convertibles in 58 but made 15,000 convertibles in 1959 and 15,000 in 1960..... I don't know why I remembered that.......

Just finished putting my 60 back together after mechanical rebuild and paint, just starting on the interior. I have a set of chrome smoothies with narrow whites for it but haven't mounted them yet, my kid gave me the Torque Thrusts when he bebuilt his 67 Mustang. Added picture with chrome wheels, more 60's mild custom look.

  16. First car I ever bought brand new, 60 T-Bird, 352c.i. with a 3 speed stick on the column. I lowered it a bit, put on Appliance Plating chrome wheels with knock-off spider caps.
Factory red paint, highlights fogged in gold.

Later painted it pearl green and put in swivel front seats and of course six scavenger pipes hanging below the rear end.

This is my Pop's 1960 Thunderbird convertible that he bought in '63 and has kept since then. He added an aooga horn way bay when and we installed the wire wheels not too long ago. Still runnin' the original 352 with about 53,000 miles, original paint and chrome but new top.

  18. Here's one my son & I put together in Michigan quite a few years ago but still not running. 390 C6 & 427 heads.

Body mods minimal but 1960 Doors (no trim) & shaved all chrome off the car. Moved the rear axle back 2" so it's centered in the well & allowed for tire clearance. Changed to conventional spring shakles by boring perch mounts in the sub-frame. 3" dropped spindles with disc brakes. Blacked out the tail light panels.

    Movin/on

If you look at Lurker Mick's picture of the Green HT you see why we centered the rear axle.

My first car was this '58 Thunderbird. I bought it in August of 1960...and I was Crusin' in STYLE !

It was White with a Black & White Interior, and full power. Really loved that car !!

Here is our 58 and 59 Squarebirds. The guy that gave me the Cream 58, told me it had "Good Karma" and was a lucky car.....

And yes, I said gave :D. The 59 I hauled a shed for the guy.

And then there is the 60 that I did finally buy...

Ended up with them all after the 58 that was given to me.... so he must have been right?

I have a few pics to share.
Mine are all of Thunderbird Juniors.
Made from 1955-66 Tbird JR cars were electric or gas powered and changed style every year just like the full size cars. They were normally 3/8 scale but in 1958-60 they also offered a smaller 1/4 scale version. I own the factory body and bumper molds for the 58-60 larger 3/8 scale that will fit adults and I make a lot of restoration parts if someone is restoring or recreating one

Yeah everything is pretty much new underneath...brakes, shocks, springs, and exhaust. The only thing electrical that needs replacing is the power window motors.

Just got it painted. Antique Gold Metallic body, looks awesome like a Twix Candy wrapper in the sun, looks dark in the shade and Ford Creme Brulee top. After putting the trim back on the plans are wide whites and Lancer caps. I wish I could use those 57 Lincoln Premier covers but they're 15 inch.
