i like customs that is to say, i don't like the new trend of building cars that mimic the look of a gasser but won't crack 15 at the strip
The 40-41's are alike in every way except for the grille opening, and headlight trim rings...that should be a group! You do need the '33 Willys in there, as it was completely different. g-willys
OK I threw Henry J in there just because my favorite ride in a Gasser was in a J. But if I had to choose one from those with fame it would be a toss up between Big John's or Ohio George's Willys. If it came down to pure looks I would have to fall back on Ohio George, I just like the looks fo the earlier Willys.
I'm with Don, Anglias do it for me. Of course 55 Chevys make killer race cars too. I don't know if I've ever seen a Fiat gasser, what's the wheebase on them? Larry T
I think they would have been legal when they first allowed foreign bodies. hen they forst allowwed bodies from the other side of the pond there was a displacement rule for the small bodies but no wheel base rule.
Benno, I'm pretty sure that when they first allowed Anglias in the gasser class, the exception was strictly for Anglias (but maybe not) and they weren't allowed in the blown classes in NHRA. I think AHRA did allow them in the top classes, so NHRA followed suite and let cars like Skippers Critter and King Kong run. Let me look. OK, looks like foreign cars were legal as long as they had a 92" wheelbase. The exception was for "English Fords" and the stock wheelbase for them was 90".
