Well, I got her sanded down with 400 wet and got everything pretty damn smooth. I decided to do a base coat and a semi gloss clear coat, because?

Thats what I see every time I think about the way I want my car to look. :)

Anyway, I have done the firewall and dash shiny root beer with a gold flake and want to compliment the color. I am thinking a dark brown, or a Navy blue. Both colors I think will look good with the root beer, but am open to suggestions.

The reason I am contemplating my first thought of a really dark brown is the cars lines and flow looked much better in grey primer (lighter tone) than black primer (blah) I am also wanting to go with a cream color interior and headliner when the time comes.

Thanks all. Looking forward to some new ideas. :)

so, just looking for solid colors or open to metallic or flake? 90's Chevy trucks had some cool metallic golds. but, just saw on thread here " Event coverage post your local Fathers Day car show pics here" that has pic of late 40's Ford rag top with a deep tan color. looks good and you could add rootbeer brown pinstripes instead of deep red like on Ford.

I'd probably go with a really deep maroon.

I second the no on the blue and brown scheme....I like the gold idea. Every once in a while I see a brown car and I like it but I think it is when of the hardest colors to pull off, takes the right car and build style. Maybe you could spray some test panels and see how you like those? Good luck.

Gold, Brown and white does go well together, but like a yellow gold, or like a coppery gold? Heres the dash. The firewall is smoothed and the same.

I'd shoot it the color you have on the dash and firewall, then compliment it with a lighter cream/off white interior.
It's a classy color yet still dark enough to give the car a bit of a sinister look..Not too "soft"..
And i think the rootbeer would also look great with the body mods done.

    If not, Pagan gold. :)

    Just my 2 cents.

Cream interior would look great with a dark metallic red paint job.

    Paint Example:

I like fred's idea... above... two dark colors won't have enough contrast to compliment each other... a lighter color would be better, orange, tan, cream, or gold color would compliment the root beer waaaaay better!

I agree with tony, same color as dash and firewall with the cream interior. maybe some tastefully done cream pinstriping.

  25. To me the color choice is so personal, that it is hard to make a recommendation for someone elses car.
I would stay away from a flat or semi-gloss brown though, might look like a turd.
