Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by OlSkool50, Mar 8, 2012.

  1. I am getting ready to chop my 50 Shoebox sedan. Would like to know your guys opinions on the perfect shoebox chop. If you have pictures and dimensions please post.

  2. There is no perfect chop except in the eye of the beholder. I would enlist the help of one of the HAMB photoshop experts to do several examples then pick the one you like best. The one you pick will be the perfect chop.

  3. One where the rear glass actually flows with the roof and doesn't look like a t-rex just sat on it. Bob bleed did a rad one on mad fabricator 3 DVD I think it was. Worth checking out.

Coupe or sedan? Coupes are just about perfect from the factory, but sedans need a chop where the roof gets shorter imo.

  5. It's a sedan.

I took a full side view photo of my un-chopped car with a pack of cigarettes (you could use anything )on the roof for a reference of measurement. Then loaded the photo on the computer and photo shopped the chop till I liked it. Then I made plywood templates of the original side windows , and cut them down accordingly and used them like guides for the final chop.

  18. So I ended going 5" up front and 7" out back. This is my first chop so please take it easy on me. Let me know what you think. It's not quite done yet.
