Hey 46Steel, The more I look at what you have done to your 48. The more I envy you. I think your a bit like me, try to make things you can get from the yard work. I am on a budget, but I want to make things work comfortably and cruise smooth. Your a great Mech. Looking foward to touching base with you once in awhile. Thanks for your input...Scot

Thats on odd mismatch of parts you have, looks like a F1 bed with F2/F3 axles, the 8 lugs are a dead giveaway. Any signs that someone cut the frame down? Or did they just install the 1 ton axles in the F1?
You might want to think about swapping out that axle, as it has 4.88 ratio, and is only good for 45mph with non overdrive tranny. A 9" or dana 60 out of a pre 73 Ford truck will bolt to the perches, only the drive shaft needs to be changed.

Looks like a fun project, it looks to be in pretty good shape, better then mine when I drug it home :)

Well. Just about ready to put the 8.8 rearend in. Going to use a 4 link set up. Just trying to decide weather to fab it or buy a kit. Any suggestions would help. Thanks

I keep forgetting that I need to post on my Build Thread...That said...What gears should I run in my 8.8 rearend? I am Installing a 5.0 with a T-5 ford trans...Here are my choices...3.27, 3.55, 3.73, 4.10...I will be running 17 inch rims, Not sure of the tire size yet.

Damn shame that no one is interested in buying any of the 3/4 ton suspension off of my truck. I have not had any bites on the 226 flathead six with 4 speed trans either...Sure hate to see them go for scrap...I need the room though...It sucks to haul it off...

Ok, I bought a 8.8 rearend out of a 94 Explorer with disc brakes and 3.73 gears..Payed 250.00. I think that is not bad. Now on to some fab and welding work. Will post pics soon.

Last May, when my Dad past away of prostate cancer it was devistating to me. I wanted to do this 48 build and drive down to Texas right up to his front door and say Hop on in Pops. Then to go get myself diagnost with the same shit...Man I was scared for awhile..First thing I did for this 48 build. Was go put the Blueprint down on my arm. So now ever day I am reminded of what it is I want to do with this truck...I just wish Pop was hear to see it...All the more reason to get on with this project.
