I got an offer to trade my 1972 4speed vette for a 1940 plymouth with 283/ 700r4 trans. My vette needs paint and work and so does the plymouth. Pretty much an even trade, but I can't decide !! The vette is a blast to drive, but I do miss the feel and look of an old school rod. Any thoughts ??
Vettes are a dime a dozen...go for the old girl !!!...I own a 1940 Plymouth coupe and it such a cool old car to drive around in....it's a flathead six w/dual carbs and headers...not very fast but chicks dig it !!
Hate to be a nay sayer but the vette will be worth more in the years to come. people go gaga over them. And the 68-73 body style has been going up in value fairly steadily. But then I am not into the fatter fendered years of rods. If'n it were my stuff I would not trade. Just my $.02
The plymouth should have some good upgrades, like disc brakes, diff ,wiring, etc.Steel bumper vets with 4spds are worth a few bucks.A plymouth with chevy drivetrain,no.
Once the Plymouth is done you'll get more looks at the stop lights and gas pumps. I still see (and own one) a lot of early 70's Vettes, and frankly I'm not real impressed. They're wicked cool styling-wise, but they're overrated. Just my opinion. I'd trade, but it's gonna come down to what it is you're looking for and where you're at in life.
Yeah- keep the Corvette. Finish what you've started, you'll get a mint for it if it's in great shape. then buy whatever the hell you want.
