Anyone else building old dodge/plymouth other mopars?

    I have a 51 Ply Concord mild custom. nosed, decked shaved lots of fun. it has a 318
    704 trans. Olds rearend (sorry) tuck and roll interior. good driver a great
    time I found that a book Tex Smith wrote a few years ago was a great help in my
    build. have fun. I forgot to tell the name of texs book, it's " building Chrysler Dodge
    and Plymouth Hot Rods "

    Heres mine, She's a 56 belvedere,that had been sitting for 35 years,cut her out of two trees in feb 2011,engine was full of water so i put the complete 318/904 drivetrain out of an 87 5th ave. probably will never be done but I love her

    i'm building a 37 Plymouth pickup. Picked it up four years ago as an old farm truck with the engine apart and lots of rust. Four years later we are finally working on the sheetmetal. Running gear is all Mopar from a 2004 ram truck. Should be a nice truck if we ever finish it. I have a new respect for people that build this old Mopar stuff cause there are not many parts out there.

    I have a '27 Dodge in the works but don't have any pictures yet. Started as a four door sedan. I kept the cowl and front doors and jambs to build a pickup cab from. The dimensions will be very similar to a '28-'29 ford cab. The bed will also be fabbed and I would like to find a '24-'29 Dodge radiator shell for the front. Hood is polished aluminum hoodsides and no top. Tube chassis (think early double tube dragster chassis) Dodge wavy tube axle for the front and 3.73 geared ford 8.8 limited slip out back with 16" Dodge artillery wheels. Fairly low but not overkill and probably no chop or fairly mild if I do. Thinking 107" wheelbase. Motivation comes from a .030 Chevrolet 283 I have that has flat top pistons, .015 head gaskets, Clevite P series bearings, a polished Offy dual four intake, power-pak heads, solid cam (still trying to decide on a profile), white headers and a three speed. It will wear Chevrolet script valve covers and be painted Detroit Diesel green with the script painted dark green. The truck will be black with black wheels and the spokes will wear some one shot Ivory accent striping with the rears wrapped in 7.50-16 blackwall tires and 4.50-16 blackwalls up front finished with stock polished stainless Dodge hubcaps. White T&R interior and green tinted glass (Think '50's and '60's factory green tint, not gaudy green plexi). It is slow going though in between customer projects but hope to drive it next spring even if in primer! Oughta look like some hoodlum's street racer from around 1960.

    Got a good friend that is helping me on my Whippet that is building this one. 1926 Dodge Brothers. Started its life as a four door sedan, but some one down the line chopped it into a touring car. He is trying to put it back as a Sedan. Ifsome one has a spare drivers front door laying around, he is in the market !!

    WOW! The previous owners sure did some clean wiring,didn't they?

    I haven't found one single wire on my old IHC that wasn't bare for inches at a time. Most were broken and if they had been clean enough would have grounded out to the chassis. Including the hot wire coming from the generator to the dash gauge.

    It's a wonder to me more of these old cars and trucks didn't burn to the ground from shorts long ago.

    im building a 40 coupe, I cant put a chev in her so I built a 440,trying to figure out the steering,I was told to use a cavilere rack and pinion

    The gm rack has been used on many swaps but there may also be others. You might check in with the guys at www.p15-d24.com for options.

    Using a Jag ifs eliminates the steering question and provides a superb disc package.

    And yes, the 440 is much preferred over the 'others'.:D

    I'm building a '47 Plymouth convertible with a 360, 727 and a '96 Cobra 8.8 with 3.27 ratio and traction lock. It has discs all around, Buick Grand Am R&P, hanging brake pedal and tilt column. I have completed all the rust repair, painted it Jaguar British Racing Green and am now putting all the trim and interior back in.

    I am also building a '36 Chrysler C7 4dr. This one will also get a 360/727. I bought a great-running engine and trans for $275 after test driving the '56 Chevy truck they were in. That's right - a small-block Mopar powered bowtie truck!
