Back in '94 the Shell plant across the river had a huge explosion and fire. We were one of the crews that was there all day. There were 4 pumpers down at the river barge loading facility pumping water up to the plant. Along comes this little rat bastard Ohio EPA guy sniff testing the exhaust on the trucks. He proceeded to tell one guy that his truck exceeded the Ohio particle emission limits and would have to be shut down. He was escorted out of the area, but then showed up about ten minutes later in the cab of the truck trying to find the kill switch. He was literally jerked out of the cab and thrown about ten feet where he skidded to a stop, got up and received a rain of hydrant wrenches, hose couplers, and whatever else they could get their hands on. He left bloody bruised and battered, but he left. Some of these enviro-nutjobs are just impossible to deal with without extreme intervention. I'm not advocating violence in any way, but this illustrates just how far they will go.

Why don't you just get everyone on you're block or neighborhood to park their car in the street and wash it. When the little waterboy comes around tell him to fuck off!! But what 69Chevelle454 said sounds good too. :D

this thread makes me feel sick...if you fight it (the ticket) then you gotta take time off work most likely...and if you don't...things will only get worse I fear

Nope, you're wrong, I'm 45. However, I don't equate being able to wantonly trash the environment with freedom or the "good ol' days" IMO.

You did you see the part I wrote about how I felt the OP getting a ticket was ridiculous, right?

Unfreakin believable ! What the hell are they going to come up with next that we can't do ?

For years when we moved down here we lived in Cape Coral. Cape Coral has a law against EVERYTHING !! For years you couldn't park a pickup truck in front of your own home (they finally overthrew that one) and you could not bring any commercial vehicle home. Some guy came home with his car for lunch and forgot to take the magnetic signs off his doors and he got fined and had to go before some kangaroo court they hold over there. You also have to get a permit to have a garage sale, and they have people riding around making sure your lawn isn't too high.

I can see certain restrictions, like having a few old cars on blocks in your yard, but some of this stuff is just nuts.

I'm wondering what would happen if the next time it started raining you grabbed a bottle of Dawn (I use Dawn anyway) and a sponge and started washing your car. If you were ticketed and you chose to fight the ticket, you couldn't lose.

Why? The rain was naturally occurring so you chose to take advantage of it rather than using City Water. Point! Environmentally conscious...

Next... The dirt on your car GOT on your car because it is ALL AROUND US. It is also on every other surface that your car has existed in since its last wash. When it rains, the SAME SHIT THAT'S ON YOUR CAR is washing into the rivers and streams ANYWAY. Your car is not a plutonium magnet, drawing it up in microscopic particles from the Earth's core. The dusting on your paint is not rat poison. It's just dust and dirt.

OK, so the issue of the soap running off into the rivers and streams exists, right?

"Well that's funny, Your Honor, since I seem to remember about a billion commercials on TV showing volunteers scrubbing ducks and aligators and manatees and fuckin' platypussies (is that more than one platypus?) with DAWN when BP fucked up the coastline not long ago. If you're going to ticket me for polluting the waterways, then I demand you fine every one of the volunteers, BP, and the Company that makes Dawn with cruelty to animals and animal endangerment. If you like, Your Honor, we can take this to the next higher court..."

Perhaps I would just keep poking the hornets nest because, well, I'm a prick with a real problem with (perceived) authority. I'm also a self-proclaimed anarchist to some extent. (Before you pass judgement, please research the TRUE meaning of the word, not the popular/common meaning. You may be surprised to find that you may be an anarchist too...) I also can't stand situations where there is an evident lack of common sense. That's the shit there that is gonna make the human race extinct. Wake some people up, dammit. Make them SEE that their heads are so far up their asses that if the open their eyes all they're going to see is the backs of their own teeth.

  13. I never use soap when i wash a car just water. So how would this be any different than my ride getting rained on in the driveway ( dirt-wise )? Can't wait to see what the world looks like in another 10 years down the road.

Everything you imagine it will be, it will be. Unless we start standing up and calling them on their bullshit.

I think you should do a little homework and find out which elected official voted to pass this local ordinance and out them publicly on here... It's the only way you're gonna get any real justice

  18. Yes, but they don't have desalination plants do they, so that salt they put on the roads, sticks to your car, then gets washed into the recycling tanks, then you pressure wash it back onto your vehicle! Even here, where it seems to rain from Sept. 1rst to June 30th, with occasional showers in between, we have water restrictions now. Water your lawn on the wrong day, pay a fine.Oh, but our province's capital city, doesn't have a sewage treatment plant, they just let it flow into the Strait of Juan de Fuca, headed for Puget Sound.

I live in the great city of charlotte nc. Here we have what is called a water run off fee. You are charged by the square footage of your home and drive way for the water that runs into the drains and back to the river. My problem is we dont have any underground drainage system here. My neighborhood just got sewer drains installed so you can get sewer and water. They charge me for the water that runs off my building and home that runs into the ground. Gotta make a dollar where they can. People have almost lost their homes over this until one judge said it is a fee not a tax.

They already do that in Ct. Only (get this) they fly over farms looking to see if the big pile of cow shit (most dairy farms have) has any liquid running downhill anywhere contaminating anything near wetlands, ponds or streams on thier property and fining the shit (no pun intended) out of the farmers.

What 56Don says....get active in local politics and get a bunch of like minded people together and change the ordinance.....or say the hell with it and move someplace more friendly....just another example of the nanny state cracking down on all our liberties and freedoms......next thing you know they will be outlawing your "gross polluter". Don't think it couldn't happen, we are all getting squeezed by government...it is not a Republican or Democrat issue either. Politicians an beareaucrats all suck!
