I just picked up a new project, a 1939 Ford Std. Sedan. I have a pretty good idea of what I want to build but I would like to see what everyone else has done with their's. I serched but could not come up with any pics of Std sedans...............Let's see what you have. Bought this but haven't picked it up yet.
This is mine had to replace frame and did few thing to my liking. MII front end,Mercury Flathead,c4 automatic, and Granada rearend.
Good luck with your project, they're neat cars. I liked mine because you didn't see a lot of Standards around this part of the country. I think most of 'em got chewed up on dirt tracks back in the fifties. Just basic stuff: dropped I-beam, 283 Chev, automatic, no radio, no air, no cruise. Wound up putting about 30k miles on it before I sold it - my garage isn't big enough for more than one project at a time!
Saw this one at a car show at a Nebraska Furniture Mart near the Kansas City Speedway. Have always liked the 39 standards and this is an excellent example (and I'm more of a Chevy guy, lol).
It must be same car Bpt ct about 10 years ago,i,m the 3rd owner in 10 years.I don,t know who did the primer but its staying that way.Same engine, nothing else the same on frame.
Funny! I was gonna get in touch with that guy to see if he wanted to sell the 'Gansett sign on his barn! Good luck with it!
Here is mine when I bought it. It has '38 hood sides. I have taken off the visor and changed the bumpers since the picture. Probably not real HAMB friendly to most but I'm enjoying it. I plan to restore it with a traditional look as I have time. I hope to see some more cars in this thread. They really are cool.
Superbell dropped axle w posies spring. It's settled down lower since the pics, ill try to get some new ones.
These are great looking cars that seem to be left out when it comes to the hot rod world. I will be starting on mine soon and need some inspiration..............any more pics?
My buddy's 39 Deluxe and my 40 Standard. Of course the younger sister is always prettier but the older friendlier (you can sit on the fender and not worry about it)
