Looks great but the exhaust drags right next to the tranny, Damn unibody.

I used 78 trans am springs in the front to drop it down and just some blocks in the rear.. Need to bag it so I can get it up when I need to. Might use a set of air shocks to get it in and out of the driveway for now.

  2. Maybe you can alter the driveway a little. Way back when I had a friend with a Chevy about that low ( maybe lower) had had some boards that he layed down to get in his driveway.

Looks alright to me by the way.

it would be fine if it wasn't for the exhaust.. sucks.

  4. You exhaust hangs too low because all you got is floor board and street below it. I forgot about that. If you have one place that offends and not the entire exhaust you can egg the pipe. They actually make flattened exhaust tubing for customs. I don't recall where to buy it but I have seen it in the custom rags. Maybe that would be a better solution.

I do like your idea of bags to raise it to get in and out of the drive way though.

Help me remember were those coil sprung on all 4 corners? if so Air Ride makes helper bags that are not too expensive, you could do a cheapo set up with a little compressor just to get you in and out of the driveway.

Its leafs in the rear on 1960, 58 and 59 are coils all around. I plan on removing a couple leafs and using a bag over axle set up to get me over bumps.
I have everything for the air ride set-up but haven't gotten the bags yet.

  7. Good thinkin. You really don't need to drop the rear unless you just want to ride on bags. It sits real well in the pics.

58 and 59 had coil spring suspension front and rear.

60 had coils in the front and leafs in the rear.

Suspension parts can be costly and hard to come by.

I believe the suspension was originally designed to incorporate airbags similar to the Cadillac El Dorado Brougham, but that never happened.

Bags would probably work OK or maybe air shocks in the rear of your 1960.

    Good Luck.

Carry a couple of 2x12's to ramp it up/down the driveways. ;)

  10. See the doc remembers. Good old fashioned way to get it over the bumps.

life was good before speed bumps wasn't it.

I don't think much of this car was really planned out when they made them. I gotta raise the drive shaft tunnel, It seems like it will be okay as long as I can lift it up a couple inches on really bad roads and dips.. But anything worth doing is never easy. Right?

I think you nailed the ride heigth! Just my $0.02 And I did what porknbeaner advised, to get my CDV in and out of my driveway. Hindsight being 2020, the Jamco springs are low enough.....but I had to go lower and cut another coil off. Sure does fool most though, because they think its bagged....till I drag 18 feet of Cadillac thru a parking lot!

bag over axle with leafs is the stupidist thing to do. makes the spring pack weak. Just normal torque from leaving a stoplight will eventually cause the spring to weaken, bend, or break. Just do it right if you do it. Don't try the easy way out. It is wrong.

I'm not thinking mono leaf or anything.. just take out one or two leafs till its low enough and using the bag for support when I need it. I don't think it would put stress on the leafs.

Ford engineers didn't "think it through" sixty years before you made their design into yours? hmmmmm. yeah, they did it wrong.

calm down.. it was a joke. And even lincoln kinda ignored the fact they every built these things after the fact.

plus we all know I'm a better engineer than everyone at ford... ever:rolleyes:

I used 78 trans-am coils in the front, they fit nice but I don't know if I would recommend them to you...
