It is happening as we speak. Grab your welding helmet and check it out. Will not happen again for more than a hundred years.

Set your helmet shade to 14

It started in the 1 oclock position and it's a real tiny dot.

Grandkids are diggin it right now.

I have a number 12 lens. Used that and a pair of dark sunglasses. Can see it really well when the clouds allow.

  8. Just finished looking at it thru the welding helmet and binoculars. Very cool sight.

It's raining here in Orlando. When it happened six years ago I got to hang out in the campus observatory and watch it there.

worked ok with the 12 autodarkening, but the darker standard lens it showed better. glad i'm not the only geek who grabbed the kids and the welding helmet.

  12. Used a pair of welding goggles and binoculars as well.Saw a big sunspot afterward but that eventually faded.Don't think I'll be around for the next one.

put on my welding helmet and did not see anything, of course I was still in my shop for safety - Ha! so, this has to do with traditional cars - how???

  15. I almost forgot, but, with about an hour left, I also grabbed my welding helmet so the kids and my wife (and the neighbors) could see.

Grabbed a pic through my welding helmet.

Just thought I would put it out there before the thread was closed.
