I haven't been here in a while. I just thought I would check in and see what the hell was going on. I don't think I was in the first 500 but probably pretty close. I'll know what my number is as soon as I post this.

I think his name was Carl, not Carlos. ;)

  4. Skip Readio is still around at #174 under the handle of DeSoto.

Carl Huether aka 286merc has left the building. We havent seen hide nor hair of him, locally, in years and he's just a few miles away.

Thanks, Bob, for flagging me on this post. I don't get on here much anymore.

Just finished building a new hemi for the '34. The last one came apart when my brand new Hot Heads oil pump fell apart on the way home from Louisville.

Actually drove the car out of the garage for the first time last night to wash it and turn it around. It'd been backed in ever since the tow truck dropped it off last August.

  6. Good to see you getting her back together Skip. I love all the little things on your hemi like the mouse trap rev kit.

  7. Thanks for chiming in!

Hey Bob, thanks for the harassment!!! :D
Hannah is 12 years old now and starting middle school in August. (7TH grade)
We took a while off from hotrodding last year. Got a place and a boat on the Ohio River near Madison, IN. I will probably try to make a few runs this year. Went to the Madison,IN show last weekend and then to Louisville, KY for the Beatersville show the next day.
Hope you and yours are doing fine. Maybe see you on the road somewhere tis summer.

isn't that the truth. But I kinda like the kinder and friendlier HAMB too.

I used to trade the occasional email offline with him. He quit replying several years ago. No idea if his email changed (didn't bounce) or he just left the hobby.

  13. He's still around. A friend of mine sees (and avoids him) him in the Post Office occasionally but that's the extent of sightings.

And if the old guy is at that HAMB Drags he brings Orendain. A very fine tequila. Then the almost young guys get full of that too.

Wow, the "ratrodrocker" was 2409 and banned, then "the rat rod rocker" was 100078 and banned, then...ah never mind.

He got some suckers hard core in his day LOL...surprised his number was so high but that was the era when the numbers on here really started to spike.

Looking at all of this is pretty amazing to see the growth of the HAMB overall from those early days.
