Very excited that my car is in the primer stage and I want to bore you with my pics! (it's not gonna stay this way, it will get paint!!)
Yes very good looking. I like the screen block next to it too....wish I could get my hands on some of that!
Good on you for wanting some paint! I am not real good at painting, but I sure do like to mix the colors. Anything under the sun to choose from, is fun.
Funny, being an ex-Brooklynite that even the little bit of neighborhood shown in your photo just reeks of Brooklyn. Let me guess--- Bensonhurst in the 80s and teens?
Nope, Kensington near 36. But as you know most of Brooklyn and Queens look the same. Some day I expect to stagger into someone else's home not knowing the difference.
Well if you look as good in primer as the car does it will probably be OK. The car looks way better and any progress is good progress.
Years ago I sold a '35 Plymouth to a guy in Brooklyn and delivered it to him. I've often wondered if there are "Garage Finds" in big cities? There is a rich automotive history in Brooklyn and other heavily populated areas, has anything ever poped up close to home? Bob
Bob, The house directly across street from me is a two family with a garage underneath. Both units are rented and the view through the garage window only reveals piles of stuff. I've owned my house for over 10 years and NEVER met the owners until last year - I know everyone else on the block. The garage door was open and they were moving stuff around. Unlike my garage with is a tiny one car box under the house, theirs seem to be part of their basement. And peaking out under a pile of stuff on the basement side is a taillight and some wood paneling. The is a friggin 40/50 something WOODY in there!!!! The bitch owner (in her 50's) snaps at me when I asked stating "it was her father's car and he's passed" Clearly she thinks it's better for her father's memory to let the thing sit under a pile of crap instead of letting someone buy and enjoy it. The good news is that all these houses have their furnace in the basement so I bet it's warm and rot free. I'll corner her husband some day but I have a feeling he's been neutered. I'm hoping that as they see the rebirth and care of my car they'll know I'm the guy to talk to too. ...and Beaner, of COURSE I look good in primer! LOL! ~ Carl
Carl, Check out the Old Motor http://theoldmotor.com/ great website run my T-Head here on the HAMB, scroll down to the 1907 photo of the Pope dealership at 342 Flatbush. What is on that site today? Bob
Bob, great site! I'm not finding the image you're speaking off but I will look harder tomorrow. According to google maps that spot is just below Grand Army plaza and I believe there are only apartments there. BUT it's almost directly across from a bar that I like. I hope to be there tomorrow night - ill snap a pic for you. Carl
Old Motor is a great site, so is its webmaster, check again the Pope dealership photos are still on the first page under the truck feature. Bob
