Wow what a difference a chop makes. Purple is my favorite color. Mine is a 46 whore door but still..... It came with a matte black which makes it look like it maybe belongs .... I dunno.... whadya think? I first was going to paint it.... but the retro rod black has grown on me.

I would think that pontiac engine blue with fattened clear would look pretty good, and fitting on your poncho.

OK Foot..... here's my take. I personally like the lavender or purple color. Problem is.... getting the right shade. Have you thought of a dark purple? I know I have seen some cars with lavender and allthough I like the color they can look like an easter egg if the car is too big. You need to remember that what surface area is. If its a lot.... then thats a lot of that color. Can be too much very easy. Do what you like ...... after all thats what its all about :D

I like it! But PURPLE yikes ,hasn't that been done a thousand times on Kustoms? Plum crazy went out with old 70's Mopars ( just kidding), paint that sucker your favorite color and don't worry what others think. Nice Kustom ,hope to see it when your done. You will get many smiles per gallon cruzin it.

Why not look at original colors? - google this link:paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?model=Pontiac&year=1948&rows=50

  10. Great story! Ennis is still here, it had grown some, but not a whole lot
I know you said no dark colors, but a pearl green (doesn't have to be too dark) would look SO good on those body lines.

Deep maroon or a dark green like hunter or juniper green. Not to be offensive but I'd ditch the cone caps for some more old school early '50's type hubcaps to make it more period looking.

The body work on the back of the car looks really good. That's the look I've been looking for.

With all the talk about bumpers, I'm interested to see what you do with them.

I'm a big fan of flat purple. The ladies like it too.

This car was painted about 10 years ago by the original builders, single stage paint with a flattener. Hasn't chalked or faded much at all since then. It's actually held up quite well. I hope to get it into shiny paint in the near future, but in the mean time, I say go for it.

  24. My 48 came with the old original "Oyster gray" and "Blue lake blue" paint..not for everybody but I dug it.
BTW, the old original blue-lake-blue top paint was actually metallic! From the factory.
Might look cool with blue metalflake over gray pearl...

2X however my personal opinion, purple or even worse lavender would not do that car any justice...I'm leaning towards a deep burgundy...Just my 2 cents... :D
