I had an awesome day hanging out with my fellow Inland Emperors at the 2011 Swamp Stomp on Saturday. Beautiful cars, great music, and an overall laid back vibe made the show a huge success. The Swamp Tavern in Spokane is a great location for a car show, just west of downtown so your still in the city. Yet, the main railroad line in town runs right behind the tavern, so your secluded from the traffic and noise of downtown, plus you can claim to have spent the day hanging out on the wrong side of the tracks. I was so excited to see couverkid make the drive up from Vancouver from the show. His '32 five-window is one of my favorite deuces ever. My favorite car of the show, because my late father orginially built this five-window back in the mid-sevenites to take my mom to the Street Rod Nationals in St. Paul. The paint, pinstriping, and interior have all held up well over the last 30 years since my dad built the car. Local hot rodder Steve Wohl built a new frame and drivetrain for the deuce, and he just finished the car this spring. It's great to see another old hot rod back on the road. hotrod-40 and friends hanging out with his "A-chero" Mr. Gasser's beautiful '41 Ford Pick-up Jade Idol's amazing '32 Australian Model B Deluxe Phaeton Chris' awesome '33 Ford pick-up
T-Money's bitchin' '28 A roadster on original deuce rails forsakenfew's gorgeous Pontiac low-low, made the drive over the mountain from the westside to attend the show. His car was so popular that people were even asking him to pose for photos.
Gorilla, Rabbit, & Chicken, Thee Inland Emperors favorite furry band. Wiskey Dick Mountain I guess this mean the shows over?
Awww shit...I have to make it down to the PNW again sometime soon. Such rad cars, people and venues. Thanks for the photos.
Awesome! "TIE" making another great showing!!! I know what ya mean about Couverkid's coupe. That thing is all types of rad.
Great pictures billy and was good seeing you again. Next time would like to take you up on that garage tour if you would like to do that. If you or any of the emporers are in the portland area contact me and will show you around.
Nice shots. It was a great show and a ton of fun. Man, you sure left out a lot of great cars. Forgot my camera but won't next time. You missed a great car that was a custom show car originally built in the late 50's. A purple '48 Mercury (actually a Canadian Ford) known as "The Purple People Eater". It's now now in street-gasser livery. We too have an impromptu non-club known as either The Swing Shift (we show up late to many events) or more commonly as the Born Again Heathens. We're all old farts (50+) that own and love hot rods and Harleys and we don't fit well with the "street rod" scene. Showing up late seems to pi$$ them street rodders off, don't understand it. Anyways it was a fun time (and always is) with good food, good music, and fun people.
Billy, Your dad must have had more than one orange 32 5w back in the seventys. My pal Ernie Martin still has the one your dad sold to Bob Zieman in Hood River,Or. Bill told Ernie that was about the best 5w body he had ever seen. He was right, we all miss your dad down here, he was a character. Marty
Thanx for the event coverage, really looks like the kind of day I would enjoy. Just a quick pick o the show goes to the A-Chero, tasty puddin man. Spokane rocks!! ~sololobo~
