Roadside America says you can't miss the Easter Island Tiki's at the Tiki lounge. So of course we had to go, BTW the Marguaritas at the Tiki Bar are Delicious.

So here is the Easter Island Tiki, can you believe we drove there?

I hope these guy's weren't looking for some of those soldiers.

It was closed on Monday, they must have not know we were going to be there.

We had to get a bit of history in the trip today.

Well yesterday we were in the south pacific, today we went to Eastern Europe.

We have only put 300 miles on the car in the last 2 days, we are stopping to see something all of the time. Most of it is not too HAMB worthy. Tonite we are in Gloucester Virginia. We don't have to be in Myrtle Beach until Friday afternoon. That leaves us 3 1/2 days to travel 300 miles. Lots of time to visit the worlds largest ball of time.

Yup we met those signs quite a bit on our roadtrips :(
I'll have to remember that place for the next time I'm in Mryland!

First stop on Tuesday morning was the Great Dismal Swamp in southern Virginia, we took the road tour and saw a bunch of critters including a water moccasin ( I think) and some deer and Egrets.

A Beautiful and very fragrant field of Lavander, there were many of these on the route, (hwy 32)

Started the day with a ferry ride from Ocracoke island to Cedar island NC. It was a dreary morning but improved rapidly.

Maggie using here newly striped by Hot Rod Jen laptop. This was a first class ferry boat, nice lounge, very clean. It was about a 4 hour trip and saved 5 hours of driving and it only cost 15.00 for the car and both of us.

The other ferry on it's way back to Ocracoke.

    Welcome to the Crystal Coast.

Oh hey Bob...correction for you...the taillights in that Olds race car a few pics back were from a '56...and the chrome trim on the side sez it's a '56...NOT a '57 as you stated.

Cool trip report BTW...one of these days I'm going to have to take a vacation with you...I love to go exploring with no real goal to get anyplace in a hurry...

    Thanx for the pix...

Not too much exciting today, mostly laying around on the beach. But we did have a near death experience.

A giant shark tried to swallow us and then he went after the car.

OK big Talkers here ya go.

We are taking off from St. Ignace Michigan on October 1st for a 4500 mile round trip on US 2, the northern most US highway to Everett Washington.

Lets see some action here , talk is cheap. Ha Ha Ha Ha.

The whole trip should take about 4 weeks.

Whoa Bob...four weeks (or so)...??? I said "vacation," not retiring on the road...:D Can't do four weeks, about two is my monetary limit, especially in my Cadillac.

If I leave from here, I could meet you in Minot, ND...and go the rest of the way with you...October is good for me...nothing going on here.

What's the occasion, what's in Everett, the final destination...??? I've been in that area a couple of times...ended up in Bellingham and then across the border to Hope, BC, where they filmed the Satallone "Rambo" movies...but have never run Highway 2 that far north.

    Shoot me an itinerary...if you've got one...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Before leaving Topsail Island we need to get a picture of the bar that is an old single wide house trailer that has been added onto. I wonder if this is where the Phrase " Ya never know what you will get when you drag a 20 dollar bill through a trailer park" came from.

Then this Giant Alligator tried to eat the chebby, I think he was related to the Shark.

We finally arrived at out destination, the Hilton at Myrtle Beach where we were joined by Jeff J and his wife Tad. We are here because we agreed to listen to a time share proposal tomorrow morning so our stay is free and we also get a 200.00 gift cert good at any Hilton property.

We are real good at saying NO to these proposals. They always try to sell us on the golf, tennis, swimming and night clubbing, as we don't do any of those things they generally give up and let us go early. So it's a free vacation just for listening for a couple of hours.

It's a real nice property right on the beach.

Tomorrow we see what kind of trouble we can get into. It is Bike Fest Week here.

Enjoying the vicarious thrills of your escapades Bob. Welcome to the Carolinas. Gotta try Tiki Golf if y'all like putt-putt. Pretty cool.

My gr-gr-grandfather spent from Oct 1864 to April 1865 as a Confederate prisoner (20th SCV) at Point Lookout. Lucky for me, he survived.
