Sold my 1955 Chevy Wgn "Shorty" in 1987. It was a daily driver from 1974 to 1987. Found it on the internet at Nevada's "Hot August Nights." This is what she looked like at time of sale, and today dressed in red. What a shock! Had some great adventures with it.

After driving it nine years with a 72" wb, I cut out half the rear quarters and extended the frame another 6" for a total of 78" wb. The fender well lips were made with rebar I heated and bent for the radius. I pieced in 18g sheetmetal and basically made my own quarter panels. The area behind the doors were tricky to do after stretching the wb.This '55 "Shorty" fits it to a tee. Plus the name of the current owner is the guy I sold it to.

JMHO. From the rear bumper to back of rear wheel well is a shorter distance from your original shorty then the red one.

    .

Here are a couple more shots. Taking a digital pic of an old 35mm snap shot can be distorted looking. I saw the car right after the current owner painted it red about twenty years ago, when it got "Dare To Be Different Award" at GoodGuys, Pleasanton.
