Event Coverage EL MIRAGE, Opening Day, 2012...!!! PIX+

Opening day for the season at El Mirage Dry Lake was this weekend.
Saturday was in the low 80's, blue skies.
I saw lots of HAMB friends, "Sloppyseconds", "Bad Bob", "Firingorder1", "Lance-Speed", Tom Branch, "Elmo Rodge", Ryan LeFevers, "McTim64" and several others.....
Good turnout. Nice to see what everyone had been doing over our "winter".

When I left from next to Pasadena, the sun coming up made for some weird sights....



looked like a scene from "War of the Worlds", but it actually was just across the freeway from the first "Irwindale Drag Strip" (1965-1977)



rolled in at 7:30, takes about 75 minutes to get from home to the vast Mojave and El Mirage...it's another six miles of dirt to the starting line area.
