Ride along with PF -- part 9

It has been another great week here on the Great Plains where the amber waves of grain have ripened and are moving in the wind like waves on the ocean.
Never have a I seen such abundance of wheat, alfalfa, fat cows, horses, hogs, wild animals, wild birds, and etc. And since we are shorthanded at work I have had a chance to drive even more miles than normal and take more photos to share with you. Variety is the key word this time...

 

more old cars and lots of trucks this week...

 

Always on the go and not much time to sit and eat recently but I have had some good meals to go like this one from the cafe in the Czech community of Cuba, KS.
I asked for a lite lunch to go and the gal said they had some freshly made ham salad and I thought that sounded good and the homemade macaroni salad was sweet and tasty too. Then I saw a platter of homemade doughnuts on the counter............remember how much better doughnuts tasted as a kid? They still have this kind..........YUM is the word....
total cost of this meal $5.23

 

A couple of old gas stations here...
and an art deco Chevy dealership

 

and a barn with the windows covered in old gas station signs...

 

and how about a 57 Nomad with black bucket seats, a 70's console, and a red, white, and blue Dixco tach mounted on the dash?

 

then I stopped by my buddy pj_garst who gave me a set of 14 inch chrome reverse rims for my 57 Chevy FREE----------it was my lucky day-----thanks PJ !!

 

then he showed me some toys he has bought recently...

 

and then he showed me his new 33 sedan that he had mocked up to sell on some Jeep wheels and tires.....I liked it alot...

 

after I left his place I stopped to take photos of this small town auto parts store that is ran by a mom and pop. She runs this place and he runs a small repair shop behind their home across the street. Not many of these little independents left anymore...

What kind of bounty did you offer for the pistol grip lite?? Me thinks he may have given you the rims to make you feel guilty if you tried to trade him out of it! That thing is TOO, TOO KOOL.
You ever notice how much great stuff was manufactured in Dayton back in the day? Must have been incredible to have been part of THAT scene.

 

and it is the time of year for foaling horses........here is a miniature pony and it's baby...

 

and some Appaloosa horses with a couple of foals that were very pretty...

 

and don't forget the old tractors..........we gotta have variety in our lives, right?

 

and speaking of variety how many of these little Nash coupes have you seen lately.....this one has old lettering on it too and some flames....probably some high school kid's jalopy I am guessing at one time...

 

and last but not least is this nice old 47 Ford wheat truck that could be a donor for someone with a nice cab and possible flathead V8 engine....

 

That's gonna do it for this chapter of my adventures but stay tuned for part 10 next time on this same channel.....

 

Manweiler's building is awesome. I drive through about once a month and go that route just to see it. Thanks for posting Paul.

Washington, KS on highway 36 and it sits near their city park with rv spaces nearby....

Thanks again for your posts. Being UK based i'm never going to see this stuff. Totally blows my mind seeing all these empty old buildings and deserted towns with cars hidden everywhere. Like the fact you always show what your eating and always looks bloody lovely!!

Good stuff as usual Paul. Being in the car biz, the chevy sign still in tact and working is too cool. The yellow nomad is cool as well.

 

how much for the sedan ? id rather have that than my 33 coupe!
