I came across this really great looking Roadster on Facebook.
The photo was taken by Cam Hutchins at DW Poppy High School Show N Shine in British Colombia.
It sure looks like an old Customized Roadster with its DuVall windshield, longer headlights, cut down door. And possibly the street rod stance is something added more recently.

Anybody has any more info on this one?

Lenses look awfully a lot like '36 Ford lenses.. Sort of like Mark Ford's coupe or ThunderbirdEsq's old roadster.

That's right! Thanks for refreshing my memory..

Pulled it out. '36 Ford lenses and ring fit in '39 LaSalle buckets.

  7. I was kinda wondering why they were pointed toward the pavement as they are actually...:)

Thats because it was originally a Custom car and the rear would be much lower than the front, making the headlights level with the road!!! You see these cars are meant to be Customs!

FalconGeorge shared four more photos of this amazing 1934 Roadster with DeVall windshield and dipped doors in another post on the Hamb. Figured they needed to be here as well.

And the car looks just so great with the fender skirts on it. Now only drop it an inch or two in the back and perhaps raise it one in the front and some early hubcaps... PERFECT

Love this Roadster (save for the dipped doors). What's with the 3-gas Cooler off of a Sun Machine? Is he testing his engine's breath going down the road???

The HRM article (June 2012, p. 63) says:

So, in other words, it currently does nothing - but he wants to use it as a fuel cooler.

It's an awesome car, but I'd probably hang the dipped doors on the wall and install a set of originals while I owned it.

    Howdy,
also would like to throw my bit in, what a great thread!
1st: my coupe lurking in the barn, furthermost south of africa, waiting to be resurrected :D.
2nd: love the full fendered surf bum approach, including babe  and board out the rumble - what a life.
The 3rd is also awesome, do the beach and street rod still exist? any whereabouts?

Thank you HAMB members for your friendly support and advice!

I have always said that the 1933-34 Ford lend themselves perfectly to customizing and this photo from the Tom Nielsen Collection proofs it once again. This time it is another 1934 Ford Custom car that was owned and built by John Dennis from Everett, WA in the early 1950's. John did most of the work on the car himself, but had the top chopped by a man named "Tiny" who was from California and had a body shop in Everett. Tiny chopped the four door just the right amount to give the carcass really great proportions. John had already lowered the rear, and used a dropped axle at the front to give it the perfect Custom Car stance. He installed smooth hood side, removed the door handles, replaced the headlights with smaller and longer units, added smooth running boards and added 1937 DeSoto bumpers. Then he added large size white wall tires with smooth hubcaps and a set of Appleton headlights to keep with the Custom Car theme. It was painted a beautiful custom mixed shade of purple, which Tiny had used before in California.
