Does anyone have problems wth the stromberg 1 bbl carbs found on early Mopars.. I rebuild mine and it still leaks from where the linkage goes up through the carb under the fuel bowl.. I don't get it.. if any one has any info I would be greatful.. I looked all over the manual and the carb, and I don't know why it is leaking...... Also with does the dapshot do ?
My carb will leak after the fast idle goes down.. I checked the float, and lowered it, and the carb still dumps gas out.. what's going on .. somedays it will be fine on not eak.. I am stumped..? help me out..
Unfortunately, virtually any carb will leak out the throttle body by the throttle shaft with modern fuel when a hot engine is switched off. Leaking while running is a totally different story, and should not happen. Leaking while running may be caused by: (A) Defective fuel valve (B) Defective float (C) Improperly adjusted float (D) Defective fuel seat gasket (E) Cracked or warped casting (F) TOO MUCH FUEL PRESSURE! Jon.
A. fuel valve? where do i find? B. float ok no cracks C. adjusted fine D. fuel seat gasket ? E. casting seems to be fine, no cracks F. I have 2 fuel filters, 1 at tank and one before the carb.. can't be too much pressure..
I got the carb to run fine yesterday, and now today it leaks again...? what? I even ran the car with the top of the carb off.. to see the gas coming in.. wasn't flooding before.. now it is.. ?
had the same problem with my rochester 1bbl, a fast rebuild was all i needed, floats were way off and the needle and seat where changed also make sure the gasket is on the correct way sometimes there are slots in the gasket to allow for a vaccum port on the bottom of the carb, mine was plugged carb works great now and no fuel leakage!!!!!
I have the original fuel pump with the glass bowl.. ems customer service .. I will check the gasket. good idea!
I had a similar problem with a pair of 97's that would flood on start up, but were fine when the engine was running. The problem was the ball style inlet valve. I adjusted the float levels with the tops off and an electric fuel pump supplying fuel through a regulator at 2PSI. I cycled it many times by removing fuel with a syringe and never had a problem. The flooding would occur when the fuel level dropped below a certain point. The ball in the inlet valve would cock to one side, and the float would stick in the dropped position. Check for excessive float drop. The fuel today evaporates so quickly that the float bowl may empty any time the car sits, especially when its hot. Hope this helps.
