RIP to one of the toughest Texans in racing with all respect to AJ Foyt & Jim Hall. How tough?? At the end of his racing career Carroll was popping nitro pills to keep his heart in check while he drove his ass off. That is a person with passion beyond belief and he had a greater fear of losing a race than dying.
That is truly a shame...the man is one of the absolute legends of the auto world, bar none! It's amazing he lived this long, truth be told, since he had heart problems for many years. Carroll Shelby is a man who appears literally once in a lifetime. His influence will be felt for many more decades to come. Rest in peace.

I'm speechless... We've all gotta go, but I just expect the legends to live forever I guess. Thank you, Mr. Shelby. Rest well.
Sad day indeed...Cobra Club at Willow Springs this weekend for anyone in the LA area, we'll be burning some fossil fuel in his honor!
He seemed to have a good life and accomplished more than most. Whenever I heard the name Shelby, it would remind me of 1973, when I swapped my 63' Corvette Coupe for a 68' GT 500KR convertible. They're both gone now... RIP Carroll
