It is about time I added a real hot rod to the collection! Today I picked up a great 1930 Model A Coupe from a local HAMB guy here in CT. He was flipping the car and just bought it last Thursday. Prior to that the car was sitting in a family barn in Woodstock CT since 1959. The story goes that the car was on the family farm to be used to do the dirty work. There is no rust / rot anywhere! I finally learned to start with something in good shape. Here is the pictures from its resting stop in the barn Here it is loaded up on the trailer ready to head to its new home Cracked headlight glass Back in my warehouse The trunk and the back window area took a beating on the farm and the rear window was gone. From the contents of the trunk I have a feeling they were throwing bags of sand, bails of hay and rocks up there.
not sure if that car is solid enough to start with. With that cracked headlight and all you might have to send it to me....
Another angle of the damage I took off the random collection of covers and stapled on blackets to show the original seats Door panels look like they are melting but that is the only negative. The latches all work great and so do the window regulators This great trunk will help when I decided to put it on. For now I am enjoying the originality Trunk all vacuumed out Everything is in such good shape NO RUST I have some other taillights to swap for this one 4 banger is not frozen and should run with a little work. The gas tank was stored bone dry and all of the coolant was drained. You can see the lower pipe is missing from the radiator since I found it was rotted. A new one from Tam's should be here tomorrow I LOVE this thing For now the plan is just to get it running and driving! Clean the tank, check the wiring, battery, rebuild the carb, replace the belt, flush out the cooling system and get it going. From there....who knows. I want to drive it this way with a big ass smile on my face!! If someone want to give me a bunch of money for it I might sell it but I am CRAZY for Chris Casny's Model A and I would love to build something like it Maybe I will build this thing another chassis and when it is ready just swap over the body....like I said who knows
Looks to be a very solid A. Shouldn't be too hard to get it up and running. It'd be fun to tool around in it that way. My coupe was used in the upper Pennisula of Michigan at a small farm where they haul manure in the back. Luckily mine is didn't get the abuse to the rear of the body like yours.
thats a great car and i like your idea of just driving it, can't wait to see it after the pressure washer.
great car. i would hope you dont chop it. get it running and drive it. keep the dents and all. if you want choped and channeled please please please find one that someone has alreday started molesting. dont ruin an orginal. im off the box now. again great score and have fun.
Awesome! We're over in Willimantic, CT and have an A coupe in the same shape as yours (although our interior was in nicer shape). Our's is already dismantled and the work has begun. Good luck with yours!
this is a hot rod forum.... where cars get chopped and channeled. You'd probably cry if you ever saw what ours looked like when we started.
i saw that at compounce, broken lense was a deal breaker for me. i thought the price he was asking was quite fair and if i had the extra dough [wife just got a new kitchen] i would have bought it. good luck with it, hope to see it around.
Hey, now your Poncho got a little sister, congrats!! lots of dents but looks pretty solid! what a score! Greets, Carsten
Steve, that car is BITCHEN! You should ask Farmergal where they got the frame for there A. Shit man now I am really getting jealous...... Chuck
really? time and use have already started "molesting" it.[bad phrase for hot rodding by the way]. chop it, channel it, do what ever you like. history of the car...take two...ACTION!
