Without any documentation, I'm very much inclined to say they are NOT the same. Keep in mind that the '37-'48 was the old straight axle design while the '49 was the all new car with independent suspension with "uprights" instead of axle ends. Given that I've never seen anything else in the two eras that was compatible, I seriously doubt that kingpin (and bushing) sizes are the same. My Lincoln shop manual doesn't list K.P. diameter nor do my old Motors Manuals.

The 36-48 Zephyrs and the 49-51 cars share hardly anything, partswise, so I would be inclined to say they are different.

    You tried Kanter?

It sucks because i can find kingpin sets for the 49-51 all day at very reasonable prices... the 36-48 not so much.

Rule #1 of owning an old Lincoln: Parts are a bitch, prices are high, very little is repopped, the guys selling them parts know what they got.

On the other hand, they are amazing cars.

There are ford truck axles that share the same king pin diameter …. so possibly the same pin
