Recommendations on how to turbo a Chevy 230?

need to know if im gonna have to o-ring the head and crap or if i can just turbo it. its a fresh rebuild with 15k miles on it. where can i get a turbo for it?

 

Go to "http://www.inliners.org/" and do some reading.
No o rings needed with mild boost... guy on there sells a nice exhaust manifold that the turbo bolts right on to.

 

Inliners is the best place for info, but there are several people on here that are interested I. "keeping 'em inline".

230 ~ 3.8 L so for mild boost you could use a turbo off a Buick T Type.

That would lend itself to fabbing a "J" pipe to adapt the manifold to the turbo, might even try one of the early draw through setups.

IIRC someone was reproducing the vacuum advance can off the turbo corsairs, so you could retrofit that onto your distributor, rather than having an electronic boost retartd.

You would do well with a copy of Leo's book (Power Manual, I think it's called, lots of info on how to hop up the straight 6 Chev).

 

I wonder if that would work on a 235?

 

if i do the turbo am i going to have to run a 4bbl or can i run something else?

 

For a draw through, definetly.

Blow through, maybe not, kind of depends on what kind of performance you are looking for.
